I think the idea of his book is not a bad one (if it is about instilling values and teaching kids good habits, etc.) but it is fruitless to bring the political aspect in the discussion. I think the idea of his book is not a bad one (if it is about instilling values and teaching kids good habits, etc.) but it is fruitless to bring the political aspect in the discussion. He could probably make most or all his points I am guessing without subjecting the collectivist idea that conservatives raised kids will have better values than liberal ones, as he says. People who play that card regardless of which side of the isle make me sick because they have a agenda from the start.

Slavery was never Constitutional. That is one reason the Civil War was fought by the Confederacy to separate from the Union.

Jackson ignored the court's order saying that they got their ruling, now let them enforce it and proceeded with the forced removal. The other thing those cities all have in common is they are cities where the industry has all left. Industrial cities do not typically fare well in a post-industrial time.

Republican districts are family oriented neighborhoods with educated parents that actually raise their kids. Typically the dem districts are the exact opposite and democrat districts often bus in kids from decent middle and upper class Republican neighborhoods to increase the test scores of the less advanced liberals offspring.

The correct for is "run by Democrats" not "ran by Democrats." As for those states, they are all heavily red states, some may have had Democratic governors, but of the blue dog conservative type. Go check out the test scores for Wisconsin among others.

are the crimes statistics tied to population levels? i mean, saying violent crime is up 300 % kind of loses its effect if it is matched by a 60 % rise in population since 1960. you know what im getting at? more population committing the same amount of crimes per capita gives us a rise in crime levels, even though people are not more criminal, there are just more criminals occurring naturally because of population growth
is that how they work? or are they indexed against population growth?

the basic ideological dichotomy here is conservatives - try to maintain existing traditions, structures, ideas etc in a society
liberals - seeking to develop and change these same structures to bring about 'positive' change within society.
calling someone morally permissive is silly - remember what "liberals" were fighting for centuries ago? ending slavery, racial equality? that WAS "morally permissive" back then, but is now considered (by most) to be "morally right"
values are ever changing.

He spends the entire show complaining against the title of Reb's book, while barely letting him talk about what the book is about!
If kids aren't disciplined, they will grow up morally permissive, and will therefore support causes which will allow them to exercise and justify their morally permissive behavior. (which they may call "freedom/liberty," but in reality is being controlled by their passions)
Whether you agree or disagree, *that* seems to be the premise of this book.

Most educators and parenting experts agree that either overly authoritarian or overly permissive parenting can cause problems for children as they grow toward adulthood. Authoritative parenting that respects the child and increasingly allows for children to have choices and increasingly make decisions for themselves, and accept increasing responsibility without being made to feel fearful of their decision making abilities and ability to support themselves.

Racism and hate are conservative behaviors. Even if someone is a member of a left-wing political party, he or she is really a conservative at heart if he or she is racist. Joseph Stalin, notorious for his virulent anti-Semitism, was egregiously conservative.

The fact is that children with conservative views were brought up very strictly and were not giving the freedom or the need to think for themselves. Republicans require this from their followers. Thus, the child has conservative views.
"Bad parenting" leads to the child having to think critically, which in turn leads to liberal views. Taking this into consideration, I think it IS fair to say that most ppl who come from"broken homes" will have liberal views but not for the reasons he is saying.

They are Centralists...as in, they are for COMMON SENSE and objective journalism...which is something lacking in today's polorized world of politics.
They outline perfectly the zeitgeist of a demographic that is confused and has divulged into rhetoric just to preserve an ideology.

Well, tolerance is based on tolerating what one can reasonably tolerate. It is not reasonable to tolerate evil or to tolerate nonsense that leads to evil and turmoil. We have to tolerate individuals, but their behavior and bad arguments that would lead to bad behavior is another thing.
It's perfectly fine to strongly disagree with someone and debate whether their point of view is reasonable, but it should be done with reasonable respect.

The majority of the poorest inner cities are politically run by Democrats. So that would include poverty. Terrible education. High crime....... and amazingly enough those people vote democrat.... now this may be because they live off the government. IDK.
