1 solution is that while doing your pre-trip 2 put the "non-locking" style fuel caps on & then when leaving your truck for more than .5hrs put the "locking" style caps on. in addition whne doing your post-trip switch out the fuel tank caps w/ the locking style so you don't have to worry about some thief attempting 2 steal fuel while you're sleeping or away from your truck.
i can see the revelance of locking fuel caps but keep in mind those of us that run in the northern states this isn't always a good idea due 2 the fact that if water/slush gets in2 the lock mechanisms & freezes this can cause the lock 2 freeze up & make unlocking the caps a real challenge & VERY costly due 2 having 2 call a locksmith out 2 safely unthaw the locks or trying other methods of "freeing up" the lock.

Some of those independent guys and a few A hole owner operators have electric fuel pumps bolted to the frames of their trucks. They can drop a hose in and wipe you out quick. It's a shame between this and all the load thefts lately. The trucking industry is the number one place for guys just outta prison to go to work. They may not get to work for a decent carrier and can't get a haz mat or twix card but they live amonst us at 28 cents a mile or less and all they can steal.

They have some sleeves inside truck stops you can slide into your tanks. Says on the package easy installation. The way they look someone can still steal your fuel but not bottom you out. Sorry this happened to ya, every truck stop should step up on their security but then again...you gotta buy more fuel so why stop the people doin it right

I used to work for Schneider back in'99. I fueled up at the Petro in Bordentown, N.J. , ate dinner and went to sleep, woke up the next morning and my fuel gauge read half a tank. I kno what you mean!!!
