  • This is a beautiful presentation of the portrait artist David Lim. I really like his and other Montmartre artists work as well. Thanks for sharing!

  • greatly done......ahhhh

  • Glad to see somebody finally turned the camera on Davy...I love his style!!!

  • thank you so much for making this video and sharing it with us here! i just discovered Davy and am very impressed by his work, but as you mentioned he showcases his fellow artists on his channel in the most admirably unselfish way. i really wish i could see more from him though.

  • @heirihunziker My pleasure heirihunziker I will be back at place du tertre in a few months with a new camera and a pocket full of SD cards! All this positive feedback I've been getting from everyone is just great ..thank you... Stay tuned you will be seeing more this summer.. All the best to you. ...Jim

  • @jimer4444 thanks Jim this is great news, very excited to hear you're going again. i should really go and pay these artists a visit as well, seeing as it's only about 5-6 hours by train from home (also my French could need some brushing up). i just subscribed to your channel so i'll know when you upload new videos.

  • oh well done, thanks for capturing davy, and so well pressented,i find it odd that some'one living half way round the world give him his just deservs , i just love to watch his chanell, especially the snowman one featuring steven, i am instantly transported to the place du tertre, i first watched davy chanell about six months ago and it dawned on me what i should have done when i was in my twentys, i am fifty now and i know what you mean by concentration especially when your eyes are going,

  • @cardellacole4 you can see how relaxed davy draws, effortless an precise, you got a great portrait there, good to know its well looked after, i got a feeling it might appreciate in value in years to come, a wise choice , i am planning on moving out there my partner has allready asked to get a move to her companies paris branch, and hopefully i can get a plot at the square, or just get a job nearby in a caff , bar or hotel, i going to need plenty of practice though , just love the whole art thing

  • @cardellacole4 not done any wood working , though i did make some models out of matches when i was young, love the butterflies and delicate vines looks highly skilled to me, and lots of patience

  • I am glad someone has done a good video clip of Davy Lim doing his excellent portraits at work. Davy has done a lot of work to show Montmartre's Place-Du-Tertre's Artists on youtube. It was time someone else did the same for him.

  • Jim,you've been bitten by the video bug-I know because I got bit too,big time!

I love all forms of artistic expression but video is so powerful. You can harness not only photography, but drawings, paintings and music.I look forward to the instructional

videos on wood-working.I've just seen your new channel page with the wood carvings and can't wait to see more. You are on a roll man, keep it up!

  • Davy won't promote himself, someone had to go all the way from New York State to Paris to do it for him. I'd say the trip was well worth it for you, him and us too.

  • I am so glad you posted this! Davy is one of my fafourite artists in Place du Tertre. He's been working hard to promote everyone but himself. I bugged him once or twice to let us see more of his work, but nawwwww. This is an excellent video - good narration, you provided some history, good music. You said "credit where credit is due", well that applies to Davy and to you too. Good job and heartfelt thanks!

  • Davy is my protrait artist during my trip to Paris with Mabel this winter in October. Davy is a great artist and I greatly thank him for bringing us fond memory.

  • @alicema64124 Hey thanks for the comment Alice. Yes I have fond memories too. It's a wonderful place to spend time. It has enriched my life in so many ways. Take care ..stay warm...Jim

  • Those other portraits that were off to the side in color and monochrome, man! I'd love to get a closer view of those as well. And he makes drawing look so easy! Argh!!! :0)

  • Magnificent! LOVED the portrait! Narrator: "Let's give credit where credit is due." Me: "Let's give credit where credit is OVERDUE." It's about time that a video is dedicated to the magnificent work Davy does at Montmartre. For the longest time I've been hoping that he would create a video on his channel featuring, in greater capacity, his own works. But since he's generous and the exact opposite of jealous, he's all-too-willing to feature the works of other fellow artists in his videos.

  • @shysterlicious Tom I can tell from your feedback on Davys channel you have a very good perception of art. Your a much better writer than i am. You write what I think but I can't write it that well! I have been sitting on this footage since 09 and finally got it together for this video. Davy is simply not going to blow his own horn.....so thats our job.

  • @jimer4444 Well, you did a superb job of putting this video together, not just in the way it unfolds, but also in the content. You were even insightful enough to catch glimpses of details an observer with a mediocre eye would have simply ignored! Very nice job, indeed. I sincerely hope you get a chance to go back to Montmartre this spring to catch another glimpse of our friend Davy. Anything you post of him will have my undivided attention:0)

    Many blessings,

    Tom

  • @shysterlicious This production of this video was great fun. Around 3 weeks of writing editing rewriting to get things to flow right. The music was another can of worms altogether. Been getting some wonderful feedback from everyone who has seen it so far. Thank you for the encouraging words, recognition, it's the life blood for artists. You take care...stay warm ..man its cold here in New York Jim

  • I forgot to mention one last thing. From 0:44 until 1:08 there is a still that manages to capture a Norman Rockwell moment. The sitter calmly poses for the portraitist; the portraitist studies the sitter; and the little girl studies the portrait. It's the innocent curiosity of the little girl that makes this an unforgettable image:0)

  • Hard work pays off!! This is a great video Jim!!! I can see why you like his art so much, he captured you and mom perfectly! I can't wait to see the NYC pictures :)

    Love,

    Kaite

  • Oh great glad you got to see it. Hope to visit in the spring. This time I will have a plan and videos should be easier to assemble. I must tell you I am still totally blown away by Agnes's work. I watch those videos of her still over and over.

stay warm... man its sure cold here best, Jim

  • My sincere thanks for this superb video.Hope this is the first of many jimer videos to come..cheers,Davy
