  • WOW!

  • When you say she started school at 4 do you mean preschool or 1st grade?

  • @PoeticAnonymous she started kindergarten. we have junior and senior kindergarten then grade 1

  • i dint learn my alphabet till i was 6

  • OMG! She is adorable!!! Your such an inspiration, although I am not a mother myself :)

  • Awwwwws thats just so cute :) My friend started teaching her little girl when she was about a year old some small words to get across what she wanted and she caught on really fast its amazing :) I'm thinking of doing it with my girl when she's older too.

  • I have to learn this :D

  • How long did it take for her to learn the alphabet and the other words? This is a recent phenomenon as it was unheard of when i was growing up. Now i see hundreds of babies on youtube signing. New evolutionary milestone.

  • @MrMcshane70 I guess it took a few months. We were just signing and singing the alphabet and she started to pick it up. It's a fun game for her!

  • what u r doing with ur daugther is really amazing, i thank you so much for being a great mom for her!

  • your baby is so cute! I can tell that this really works. Amazing. My cousin said something about teacher her 1 year old daughter sign language and I was like wha?! well, now I know. Thats for enlightening me! :)

  • this is great, your child looks so happy to have this mental challenge, it really seems to make her content and not frustrated. i always find it sad when parents don't stimulate their child, i think it's just such a waste and so sad for the child's future. yet you also manage to keep it so enjoyable for her and don't seem to push her too hard. you have found the perfect middle, well done! :) and thanks for this video

  • i love your videos so useful, n your baby is so smart :)

  • wow I don't think most 17 month olds can sing the alphabet yet!

  • Brilliant stuff, credit goes to mommy.

  • soooooooooooo cute

  • yeah that's good to have second language but i know that babies cal learn other languages as well as they are learning their firs language, why sign language?is it easy or you have deafs in your family...???what is the value???

  • @LearningToFly1000 Because they can make signs and gestures before they have the ability to say words. This makes life so much easier when you can understand what they want. Plus sign language is the 4th most used language in North America so why not :)

  • @SmartHandsCA I think it's 3rd now, behind English and Spanish

  • @LearningToFly1000 LEt's assume you meet a young woman, you realize she knows sign language. Isn't that attractive to you? Isn't that an indicator of great intelligence? It is also super playful and cool to be able to communicate with someone from a distance. It is effortless and cool.

  • That is fantastic, your baby is sooo cute,i would like to ask a question-WHY ARE YOU TEACHING YOUR BABY ASL?

  • @LearningToFly1000 Thank you :) I started teaching her because it was a great way for her to communicate her needs to us before she could talk. Now I am teaching her (5 years old now) because it's a great second language for her to have :)

  • @SmartHandsCA yeah that's good to have second language but i know that babies cal learn other languages as well as they are learning their firs language, why sign language?is it easy or you have deafs in your family...???what is the value???

  • @SmartHandsCA yeah that's good to have second language but i know that babies cal learn other languages as well as they are learning their firs language, why sign language?is it easy or you have deafs in your family...???what is the value???

  • that was so cute everyone should teach their chil asl

  • god place this girl

  • she i soo cuute!! ^^

  • thats the cutest baby by far

  • How sweet!!! Mommy, can you say scholarship???

  • My cousin knows alot of signing because her friend was deaf so she decided to learn it. she tried teaching me some too. I'm watching your videos and i'm actually learning alot! And i'm actually learning the do,re,me,fa,so,la,ti,do signs in my Chorus class! so cool!

Thank you! you and Fireese are a great help!

  • c'mon when she says the notes.... LOL

To be honest the 7th is "SI", not "TI".

I'm italian, I know that LOL.

  • @Quinzio Its actually SI or TI depending on the system that you use, which is often related to where you live. For instance, in most French speaking places its Si, but in most anglophone communities Ti is used. There are also other variants like whether you choose to teach fixed Do (where Do always correlates to the note C), or moveable Do (where Do is always the tonic or first degree of the scale). And actually, the man who created Solfege was Hungarian, Zoltan Kodaly! :)

  • This is amazing!!!!

  • what a cutie! God bless

  • aw she's adorable! so smart!

some 20+ mth-old babies are still babbling and unable to say even ''mama''........

  • HI !

fist of all, I just wanted to tell you how great it was for me to watch your video !

i'm french, hearing, and i teach music to deaf children. I practice french sign language and i have planned to teach it to my children when i'll have them.

but what i wanted to ask you is the sign for the music notes. Are they real signs? i would like to learn them but i would like to see them precisely, and your daughter is great but still young on this video so i'm not sure they are definite.

  • @ElsaSiugo HI :-)

It's called solfege. If you google that you'll find the hand shapes for the music notes.

  • I think it's wonderfull that you are teaching your baby sign language. I took a few sign language classes years ago, just for fun, and I think it is not only useful but it is beautiful. Your baby is adorable. Congratulations on what your baby knows. Very cool.

  • great job mom! :D your baby is amazing!

  • I love your video's. She is so cute. I never really thought about teaching my child to sign. she is five now and she can still learn but it would probably be more easier to do it younger.

  • She can definitely still learn! My daughter loves to still sign now that she is 4 and her friends like learning along with her :-)

It's a great second language to introduce!

  • OH MY GOOOD!! that is amayzing!!! i will do that definitely with my baby!! i love it! who doesn't want to have a smart kid??

  • we use 2 hands here can u use 2 hands to sign the alphabet and i love your films your little girl is soo cute

  • Thank you :-)

BSL is totally different from ASL. You use two hands when doing the BSL alphabet and we use one.

  • That was great !

You have a very smart baby !

I did not see her signing the alphabet ,

but to sing it at that age is amazing !

god bless your daughter and your family , as yourself !

  • im in love with you! you are a great mom!!

  • thank you SO MUCH for sharing this with us.. my youngest loves watching a BBC show called Something Special, which uses Makaton and is aimed at children with learning diffculties. she has grasped the few signs that are repeated each show, and is only 7 months. Its never too soon to start a love of language :) !!

  • that is so amazing bless you and your child

  • Hello, my daughter father is deaf, but my child is hearing, how do i teach her how to start signing? she doenst speak yet..still just baby talk. any help would do. thank u

  • Hello. I would recommend that you use signing with your child in the same way you'd use English especially if her father is deaf, I'm assuming she will eventually be fluent in sign. You can always start slow and simply introduce a few signs at a time but in the same way we talk to our babies in full sentences you can sign with your baby the same way.

  • Omg Thats Amazing!! Thats what you call a Cool Baby! :)

    xx

  • absolutely amazing, this toddler really has amazing potential if this continued while she is young, the mother is doing an amazing job

  • woah!!! either your baby is a GENIUS or you are an amazing mother. keep a close eye on her, she's a gem

  • mencantaaaa!! mne parece increible q lo aprenda de esa manera tan fácil y le guste además porque se nota que le aprender el lenguaje de signos xq le resulta omo un juego..enhorawena!

  • wow this is awesome i am working with 6 month old twins right now on sign language-you are my inspiration

  • I used to know how to sign the alphabet (and somewhat basic words), but was horribly out of practice by the time I hit my senior year in High School. My neighbor's child was born deaf, and, to help, I've been relearning what I knew and am expanding on it.

I've sent a few of your video links to his parents, to show them another way they can communicate with their baby. :) Thank you for posting these videos; your daughter is incredibly adorable and very spunky. :D

  • great mom!!! keep up the good work!!

  • Gasp! this is sooo coool, i also noticed the blackhawks bib, very cool, though I'm from Vancouver and we're playing each other tommorow!! whooo

  • Thanks :-)

My sister-in-law lives in Vancouver. My husband is a huge Hawks fan since he was little... he's very happy right now!

  • How cute! What a smart girl, and so adorable! I'd love to teach my kids to sign (though me having kids is a few years off) but first I'd need to learn myself. ;D

  • hi, i have a freind that is deaf, he cannot hear well, and i always speak with him with the help of another friends, i want to learn sign language, wich site or vid would you recomend for me, to learn more about the language. thank you.

  • If you google lifeprint you will see a great free way to learn ASL online. Just click on Bill's lessons link. Obviously it is best to learn in person by taking a course but if you can't do that then this is a good option.

  • Submersion is the best go to a book store get the book the joy of signing. learn a couple basics. then plan time to be with just your friend no interpreter. he will teach you as you go and you will be forced to use it. it will take a little time but is by far the best way to learn
