  • Big banjo

  • "I SWEAR I'M NOT OVERCOMPENSATING FOR SOMETHING"

  • dear lord i want one

  • STOP COUGHING!!

  • he cant reach his knobs to tune that thing lol.

its a 2 man job for this baby lol

  • my plane ticket said I could bring an instrument on board, and now you tell me I can't!?! lol

  • That was such a delight. Very musical. You are a virtuoso!

  • He has all those long (deep) strings on the left side, but only plays the shorter (higher pitched) strings on the right side. I wanted to hear the entire instrument.

  • Indian musicians know how to better hold instruments of this size. Cooky Euros!

  • What's up with the tail?

  • this is amazing, but i can't stop laughing about the two top comments.

  • Bravíssimo!!!!

  • He stole Mr Fantastic's Tiorba

  • Wow! You are at one with your instrument and truly amazing. I only discovered your clip as my harp maker also plays and makes lutes. You have some pretty fancy finger work going on there and I am seriously impressed. You are an inspiration!

  • That guy. He has a huge instrument - and he knows how to use it.

  • He has the biggest therefor he is... wasn't it something like that? :-D

  • All these dumb comments by people who can only play on their weener... :(

  • That's just beautiful..

  • pretty sounds

  • that guy is 7 feet tall

  • Nice the way he change the timbre! great artist!

  • But seriously, they had no mikes in those days. An instrument like this with the long strings, like a big grand piano, could play sound that would carry in a big hall and excite the audience with its amplified sound. Beautifully played, Mr. Zapico! Thanks!

  • I understand he uses giraffe gut strings...

  • @zivauri hahahaha comment of the week goes to zivauri :)

  • He has to have a case for it, to take it on the plane Silly!

  • pinokkio got a stif dick?

  • optimus prime called... he wants his dick back!

  • @scorpioeagle56 hahahahahaha I rofl'ed

  • this right here is the reason youtube exists in my opinion. it's for the sharing of culture and ideas. i applaud this gentleman. however, i must ask. is that instrument grand in size or is he simply smaller in stature?

  • @ggolight Very grand in size. As you can see, he has to sit on that strap to counterbalance the heft of the instrument and keep it stable.

  • @OnyxDeity Yeah, that makes sense now. I was wondering why he did that. The puzzle fits together now.

  • Amazing sound and a very gifted musician... but it looks hilarious while being played...Sheeesh.. take the strings off and it can double as a snow shovel

  • It's probably a Transformer

  • He could have used just a regular sized guitar for this crap.

  • @poopypoopyhead1 He could have but it would have sounded very different. Personally I'm bored of the guitar, I enjoy new string sounds.

  • Anyone else reminded of Dwarf Fortress?

  • can you play thunderstruck on it?

    i bet you can.

  • This is spectacular! Thank you for sharing. It is clear that some are not familiar with this wonderful instrument - but your talent shows that you are. I wish you the best!

  • haha the comments are best than the video

  • To the clowns leaving smart-assed comments: try doing something beautiful like this instead of tearing down what others have created. Show talent for something other than stupidity.

  • what is that instrument? '____________'

  • @Stany1504 a tiorba or theorbo

  • It looks like a weapon of mass destruction

  • Is this a Giraffe Lute..???

  • If you go from 0:01 seconds to 0:20 seconds, its as if he just pops in out of nowhere.

  • hervorragend !

  • dude! compensating for something ?? dont worry about it

  • Wow! That is such a tall lute that man has!

  • Reminds me of the Midnight Sonata...

  • I love it's sound, the tone is very rich and warm.

  • thats a nice ukulele ;)

  • wow what a tiny little man

  • @Bflatest haha

  • @Bflatest hahahahah good one

  • WOW!!!!!!!! Outstanding, what a fine performance!

  • BRAVISSIMO ! ! ! !

  • @Bjowolf2 HAHAHAHA :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • @vincentizghra

    Mange tak ;-) ( many thanks )

  • dude, what do u need to compensate? ;-)

  • people would think that he has a super gunkiller if had a case for that.

  • Very, very well done - absolutely beautiful!

  • Wonder if he can take that as carry-on luggage.

  • guau!

  • Bigger IS Better!

  • imagine restringing that

  • has he got a case for that?

  • @baldandold yes, he got it! and all Archilauds & Theorbo players :D

  • dang

  • Very good. I love it.

  • /watch?v=cm3Y5jv8Nk8&feature=related

  • i love you

  • You know what they say about a man with a giant guitar :p

    Beautiful melody :)

  • Grax.. !√v^√v^√♪♥

  • What is that thing? It's bigger than he is

  • @Mrweeeed420 It's called a "theorbo", or in this case, "tiorba". Just different wording for the same thing though.

  • I so need to get one of these some time lol. Screw the American tradition of living in unnecessarily expensive houses and wasting money on stupid things.

  • WHY

  • This instrument is awesome. It would be great if the artist come out, sat down, and started grating cheese on the strings while going through a QVC style food processing demo - then to top it off played this same Kapsberger piece but double-time. Cheese would be flying off the strings. The audience would be fed and happy.

  • @TheDeadlyBulb huh?

  • Very interesting instrument. Great playing too. I just wonder if he has to call the neighbors to help him tune the thing!!!!

  • Great!!!!

  • wow this is awesome- it sounds so modern

  • just don't play any brown notes! you don't want to offend your audiance!

  • What's the name of the song?

  • Is that a huge stringed instrument in your lap or are you just glad to see me?

  • couldn't he have found a larger neck?

  • Comment removed

  • very nice , it looks like my dick, cool though :)

  • @GreekonRampage that would mean you have a needle dick, haha

  • @GreekonRampage You must have a very weird dick

  • @221Dw indeed my friend

  • OMG AT 05:54 I SHAT BLUESY BRICKS! 3rd Min-3rdMaj swish!

  • Dwarf Fortress.

  • @limetreePT1939 That's what she said.

  • @antshrike hee hee hee

  • bravo

  • I didn't know people could have over 20 fingers. Interesting

  • A much more expressive and interesting version than any of the other many to which I've unfortunately been subjected.

  • @TheCrazyCello You can't hear that difference, the wide major second you mention is almost just intonation and you have to your mind a second that's just intonation. Btw meantone temp isn't used but for a handful of instruments and equal for almost the most of them, cause meantone has some wolf-notes and equal is almost just intonation and has no wolfs. Anyway guitars and lutes are octave tuned (more logical) and not tuned by fifths. In which instrument you tune with meantone?

  • Comment removed

  • I do not understand why it should be so long you do almost not use the deep strings anyway ???

  • this emancipates my memories

  • fantastic performance! light and fluid, great feel

  • Toccata arpeggiata by "Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger".

I like this composer and you perform is great! Good for You.

  • just how many Kapsbergers were there. Ive heard of only Johannes Heironimous Kapsberger.

  • The real question is how the fuck do you store that thing!!! lol

  • I personnaly like this sound : lute music wasn't mostly played in churches or cathedrals, like we expect for our ears these days. This dry sound pleases me much. Thank you Daniel.

  • Muy hermosa!! Gracias senor Zapico!

  • SONG NAME?

  • @aligman07 ... who is singing???... in european music we've got more than songs.. the name of the PIECE is capona i ciaconna by kapsberger

  • @SemperAugustus86 Oh... please drop the condescending act. And stop pretending you don't shit like the rest of us. Or do you have another fancy word for "shit" like poo-poo or "number 2"?

  • @PartialObserver hehe the clishé-offensive-usa-people-on -internet

everytime there is a hella obscene comment u immediatly think: THATS AN AMERICANS ONE and r confinrmed

    xD

  • @omoshiroidayo I'm not an American but at at least intelligent enough (unlike you) to not generalize. Only dumb people think in terms of black and white. I guess it makes it easy for them that way.

  • @PartialObserver Says the one who generalized...

  • @PartialObserver If I recognise that not every piece of music is a song, how is that pretending I don't shit?

    songNoun/sôNG/

    1. A short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung.

    2. Singing or vocal music: "the young men broke into song".

  • @kabivose My comment was directed at the other snob.

  • @kabivose troll!

  • @aligman07 Songs by definition must have words. There was a lot of lute music written as singer/songwriter but this isn't one of those pieces.

  • truly exquisite, this is heaven - beautiful!

  • Muy bello momento de música... ¡ Espléndido!

  • stunning - thank you for your music

  • Magic happens when you love instrument and music more than yourself...just enough to break another heart...

  • beautiful!

  • Theorbo music is some of the best music I have EVER heard. It is such an original sounding instrument and players who play its music must be REALLY gifted players.

  • very nice.

please check out my new performance of some de visee as well.

    regards from stockholm

  • Brilliant performance. One of the most impressive renderings of the ciacona I've ever heard.

  • Nice!

  • @DaNorthernLight 'tis a Theorbo

    Veramente eccellente

  • What a sound, and what a music ! Congratulation to the player, who is very good. The sound is smooth, very pleasant to hear to ... the whole brings me to a musical dream...

  • Great!

  • very nice

  • @Torresislost lol

  • Además de guapo toca bien!

  • Tus dos opiniones participo yo tambien.

  • why ,,, this thing is soooooo fucking big !!!!!

  • great music!

    Can somebody explain me

the difference between "tiorba" and "chitarrone"?

  • Is in italian but maybe you can traduce

    w w w.musica-antica . info/strumenti/strumenti_paragrafi/8_4. html

It says that is not easy to understand if chitarrone and tiorba were the same instrument or not, for Piccinini they were the same instrument with different names, for Praetorius they were two instrument: the Lang Romanische theorbe =chitarrone and the Paduanische Theorba.

  • Other composers agreed with Piccinini so maybe in the first time they were two instrument but one was more played than the other so they became one but the people continue to name them in two different ways

  • que hermoso sonido :)

  • Can I please borrow this Beautiful Instrument and present it to Steve Van Halen and do some fast RENAISSANCE LICKS on it. This INSTRUMENT CAN BE REVIVED by the PUBLIC PERFORMANCE os SUCH an ENCHANTING music like this!!!

VIRTUOSIC MUSIC ... BRAVOO... i give you

    GOOGLE STARS....

  • so tight.

    so damn big. greatly played

  • very captivating, well played

  • absolutely beautiful.

  • Bassjo!

  • The banjo, with the metal strings is very loud and strong. Though, if someone crazy enough thought about it, they may be able to play some Bach on the banjo and make it sound very good. Just a guess. And notice that the theorbe, for the sound, it has no electrical wires attached ;-)

  • I had no idea Kapsberger was so bluesy! 5:54

  • LOL haha so true

  • @misteriosodude LOL! It also sounds a bit like bluegrass:)

  • Fabuloso, que buen musico!!

  • wow, like Galileo's telescope pointing at the

North Star playing this wonderful old world instrument on a Rennaissance peaceful night!!!

BRAVO for taking us back in time....

  • what the flute are you playing on ? very listenable, one would think that the playing is an expression of yours thoughts, very living fresh gentle and dynamic playing, excelent job

  • bravo!!!

  • Very nice interpretation, very sensual.

  • que estupidos!!! es una tiorba
