  • Hey, I followed the tutorial well until he added on the filter, I added on the envelopes and shit, but it sounds different, Can anyone help me?

  • This is easily one of the best tutorials I've seen on the subject matter. I learned a ton. I especially love the fast pacing. Most people who make tutorials talk way too slowly and have a tendency to babble on for hours about crap that's irrelevant. Thanks a lot. Subbed.

  • cant wait till the download link appear at 5000 subscriber !!!

  • This is one of the best tutorials I have seen. I don't need how to make a sound, but the theory behind it. Thumbs up, guys!

  • This tutorial actually drops like a B0:55

  • @OfficialSickup You fucking beast xD

  • part 2? :)

  • Is that a Korg o1/w ? lol

  • my bass sounds nothing like this with those settings

  • lol turn on the audio captions

  • Awesome tute, thanks!

  • Please post a tutorial for the sound at the end of the (4th bar of the drop). Thanks!

  • You mono bass sounds because subwoofers are mono. Cheers

  • You guys put forward some pretty tricky concepts in a nice simple way. Very useful. Thanks

  • wow, these tutorials are so helpful. Even though i don't produce dubstep, i can still use this with techno and electro.

  • Thanks gents, come to DENVER!

  • @dirtygirlent and anyone else with the same problem.. turn up the resonance and drop an lfo on it

  • LOVE THIS ALL!

  • its not exactly Mozart but kids seem to like it

  • "Ahh"

  • Hey guys! I was wondering what speakers those are.

  • lol i use fl studio 10 but now i really want to use cubase :O damn you guys sound AWESOME :D

  • you should make a series of tutorial focusing mainly on massive!

  • @dodgeandfuskitv The reason sub notes have to be completely centered is that most subwoofers will convert it back to a mono signal, and if you have it off-center you'll end up cancelling some of the sound out, which will make the sub-bass much quieter. Also, if you're running multiple copies of the same synth you should probably have your wide high-frequency one use unison with 2 or 4 voices. Stereo enhancers sometimes don't sound quite natural (ignoring the fact that these are very much synths)

  • lol Skrillex uses FM8

  • 10:23... HOW DO YOU MAKE THAT SOUND!! :O

  • wait what primary software do u use? after i make some songs on fruity what should i move on to

  • @GodsNotReal95 Use whatever works for you. Everyone calls FL Studio a toy but Porter Robinson got himself a career with it. Dodge and Fuski use Cubase because it works nicely for them. I use Ableton because it works nicely for me. Just download some demos and play with them and see what fits naturally.

  • sweet. that was perfect. And when do i need to change the tempo??

  • I'm confused... on the first instance of massive, when the scream filter is turned off there is no wobble, which is how it should be. However, once you applied the scream filter, it not only got the distorted effect and attack ramp, which are shown straightfowrward, but it wobbles after a few seconds. I know he said that he likes not using an LFO so he can just hit the note as many times as he wants it to wobble, but you can see it's one constant note. How does that work?

  • respect for these. totally unpretentious and natural.

  • u guys fuckin rock keep these coming i love this stuff

    so helpfull!

  • lol @ dj's and producers who wear collared polo's... this video is awesome btw,

  • this is awesome!

  • these tutorials are really helping me out I am working on a EP and i'm gona apply some of these eq tricks and other stuff to my music.. i always wondered why my snares were like lowered when i put my basslines . appreciate it!

  • Great tutorials guys, really learning a lot here. I just have one question, what kind of computer are you running? If I try to run that many instances of massive everything gets all buggy and it sounds awful and glitchy.

I'm runing windows xp with 2.5gigs of ram and duel core processor.

  • @infestedpasta use asio drivers they make everything better

  • You guys are awesome please keep uploading Videos. EVERYONE SUBSCRIBE !!!! thanx Dodge & Fuski Legends

  • Thanks for these vids! very helpful

  • so im super fucking confused on that first bass sound. my sound is nowhere near similar to that, and yours has a wobble coming in at the end of the envelope. i see that it is wobbling in this instance of massive, but as soon as you turn on the scream filter it pretty much sounds like 2 or 3 other synths have been added. any help bros?

  • @dirtygirlent

at the top you can change a option that sais bend + bend - and so on change it to bend+

  • @dirtygirlent the wooble just notes on the piano roll he didnt make massive do the wooble he had to do it by seperating the notes

  • @dirtygirlent Did you play around with the scream filter and automate it. Did you turn on the other 2 or 3 osc and change the pitch?

  • @dirtygirlent I get what you mean but I think the "wobbling" is the second bass sample that uses the LFO control on the scream as opposed to the envelope. The first sound is the one thats more like your lead then the second is the one you use to plug in the "wobbly sounding" bass

(using the same OSC and FX presets as the first).

    thats what worked for me.

  • @JefronianArchives Not it's not actually. He did not use an lfo to get the wobble. From as far as he said the Envelope 1 is the part that makes the wobble. So you keep pressing the note to get a wobble. Try it out, and it actually works.

  • @dirtygirlent it's 2 or 3 other synths that have been added. really not that hard though, just stick an LFO on one and not the other.

  • 0:55 name?

  • @PrePayt Dodge & Fuski - GuettaStep

  • What program/sequencer is that behind the massive instance?

  • they are good.. kinda like my last tube i uploaded

  • These are really really good videos

    thanks so much

  • Very nice!

  • mine doesnt wobble like yours how to make it do so

  • holy shit you guys answered so many of my questions i love you

  • How do you get movement in you bass like Feed Me, Noisia type basses? They resample a bit. What are your thoughts??

  • Rusko? oh wait.

  • @mymummy12321 haha yeah that dude on right does look like Rusko.

  • What cubase are you using?

  • thank you :)

  • man those patches are simple too, interesting that they create instances to add harmonics.

  • YOU DON'T WANT UR SUB IN STEREO BECAUSE IT WILL CREATE PHASING BRO.

I AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW.

  • @SoundGauge on youtube type in "high rankin sub bass" at first it seems like a joke but its a very good tutorial on sub bass :D

  • I have a massive and I have not managed to recreate that sound, carefully following all steps ... anyone know why?

  • Ohh yahh Real Massive love it

  • Very informative. Thank you for doing this, and spreading the love. Can't wait for part 2. I subscribed the shit out of your channel too. :)

  • Since TC Sonic Destructor isnt available anyone what would you recommend for the same job?

    Thanks !

  • i cant get the first bass..

  • "It's not Mozart but the kids seem to like it."

Whethr he's being serious or not its true, a lot of Clubstep like this is mass produced and

far flung from the more meditative and ambient roots of the genre.

I'm sure you agree that both can be admired in different ways, just my opinion. Haters gonna hate. lol

  • @TheBrendanio001 WTF do you mean by 'mass produced'?

  • @matthughes65 I mean produced...yeah ya follow me...en mass...comprende?

  • gr8 upload, im glad your showing your approach so openly.

  • Do you guys have any tips about sidechaining? Like if you sidechain everyting, or leave some sounds in ex. the higher register untouched. And if you are using the volume or filters etc. Any thumbrule about how you are doing it? Loving the tutorials by the way! Unbelievably cool that you take the time to help newbies!

  • fucking love you guys. thanks so much!

  • cat

  • you guys are awesome for doing this. thanks

  • these videos are the greatest thing ever. the more the better :D

  • I can describe you guys in 5 words... pioneers, brilliant, modest, effing, amazing.... come to the states!

  • Very helpful :)!

  • Awesome tutorial, can't wait for the next!

  • TUT 3?????? :)

  • Fuckin love you guys...

Loved you since Ag3nda days xD mmmmm MFBFB

  • Omg.. it looks so simple.. .and its very nice sounds from only 2 baisc saws.. i always tried to put as many crap on my sound (inserts, modulation, fx's ect) and i just overcomplicated it for my self and my all sounds was crappy... now i feel like bigest noob ever... :D

  • Cannot wait for part 3. "Do not fuck with us" is one of my favorite tunes!

  • you dont even have 5000 channel visit you can wait till 5000 subs

btw thanks it was really helpful:D

  • yeah keep em coming,

    peace from Thailand

  • balls...youtube didnt tell me you guys uploaded this and im subbed...weird

  • @portumadre

    Same, weird.

  • Really happy to see this! Great stuff once again. Massive thanks for taking the time guys!

  • Hey guys thanks so much for all the good advice , NOw im working on a lot of tunes and i was wondering , should i keep struggling to look for a way to get and or make acapellas or should i keep using parts of songs that are vocal, i cant figure out how some artists get these dope acapellas . Do The actual artists give them permission to use them or is there some magical thing im missing ?

  • PURCHASED!!! LEGENDS ill see you at CLUB VILLA in Perth

  • Awesome tutorials. Excited for the Skism esq reese lines tutorial. Do you have any specific VSTs that you use that are available as freeware that you could suggest?

  • @dodgeandfuskitv

What vengeance sample pack did you guys use in the last tutorial?

  • @dodgeandfuskitv

What vengeance sample pack did you guys use in the last tutorial?

  • also what is your opinion on sidechaining the bassline to the snare?

  • I'd love to see a 360 of your studio. Also it would be great to get a tour of the flat/house!

  • You guys are brilliant! Can't wait for the 5,000 subs!

    Fuski's hair is AWESOME!

  • Are you guys best friends'?

  • Thanx for doing these videos really appreciated.

  • and, lol for some funny stuff during the video, feels more personal. not like a lecture at all.

  • awesome video to take some production notes from, just like the first. also, props for being the only popular-successful artists, that i know of, to chip the ice on your personal production critiques.

  • Are those Massive instances on Instrument tracks or do you have a different instance loaded up in your VST Devices List that you just trigger from a MIDI track?

  • @TwilightIndustries they're separate (duplicated) instrument tracks/instances. we don't really use the old-style MIDI/route to VST devices cubase method since they brought out instrument tracks as it's much more straightforward and flexible

  • @dodgeandfuskitv Cool, thanks for the reply. I still use MIDI tracks out of habit. :P Really great tutorials, definitely some of the best I've seen. You guys have got the balance of casualness and real useful information down really well. :)

  • @dodgeandfuskitv Do you have any tips to combine massive instances? When I duplicate them I lose some of the sounds and/or they sound totally different.

  • @dodgeandfuskitv What was the difrent volumes of 3 layers of this main bass ?

  • I know your using an envelope for the filter, but how to get that wobbly part before the high note?

  • I like this for many reasons. Sure people can just copy what you do and what not. But just seeing how you guy's use massive gives me a different point of view on how I can use it myself. I don't need your presets or anything, this video is just so informational on it's on.

  • you guys are awesome! love your stuff! keep it going!

  • fuski doesn't need a hair cut he needs a handlebar mustache

  • irrelivant question but which one is dodge & which 1 is fuski? My moneys on the guy on the left being dodge

  • @SoundGauge its not a controller its a mixer - allen&heath zed10

  • MUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • having trouble seeing something...is there anything routed to the resonance on the filter??? it looks like their is, but i can't tell what it is..anyone?

  • @KEONTRUTH the resonance is set in one place, and not modulated/automated in either of the sounds shown

  • @dodgeandfuskitv Why did you choose Cubase, Pros Cons? Also what do you think of other programs like Reason, FL Studio, Logic, etc.? I'd really like to know if I'm wasting my time with a particular program.

  • @AchillesSmile We know people who make banging, beatport charting tunes in all the above programs, so you're definitely not wasting your time. The reason we use cubase though is overall for computer based production its probably the most comprehensive in terms of features (both for midi and audio editing) and it's also a very quick program to use regarding its workflow.

  • "bollocks, youtube dont allow links in this box" i fucking love you guy

  • Put CC translate on and go to 11:04 , :D WTF?

  • what awesome guys. Successful, well known dubstep producers sharing their secrets to all of their fans. +1 dodge & fuski . thanks a ton

  • 07:37 You want your kick and sub in mono because when cutting to vinyl stereo sub frequencies will break the cutting head and you will owe the mastering house a shit load of dollar. Plus subs are normally mono anyway so its a wasted excericse.

  • Regarding not widening low end, "I don't technically know why.."

It's because using a stereo spreader on the low end can easily cause phase cancellation, basically causing your sub to virtually disappear.

    Great tutorial though! Cheers.

  • Awesome, nice basses

  • Dodge and fuski you are awesome, not stuck up with your tips like other producers...

love you guys for this :)

  • when you talked about how you should mix the track with the bass in the middle and the high end wider i immediately thought of an ice cream-cone, good way to remember it :)

  • did u use a electribe or something like that?

  • i love that remix fellas, i apreciate ur tips thank

    Widebeach, and Icetk from soundcloud

  • presets would be sweet :)

  • c'mon guys we want the presets so get subscribing ;D

  • yay! good time is good
