He has DJ software on his laptop like serato itch or something like that (you can get it cheap) it comes with 2 blank vinyls and 2 blank cds so you can mix music on your laptop instead of buying vinyl it also uses a soundcard that comes with the software. Its a great investment have a look about the cheapest youd probably get software is £250 approx. Hope i helped, i'm a begginner to and know how frustrating it gets when people dont answer :P

it uses your mp3 collection and acts like you have a vinly for each mp3 you have. It basically puts the mp3 on the vinyl for you and acts like thats how it was made. Lets you use you music collection instead of legitimate vinyl

I really would like to see more people experiment with the Controller One. I don't think I'm the one to do it, but Vestax has been one of the few companies that targeted the turntablism market back when nobody else really cared about it; it's a shame more people don't use their others, other than mixers.

By the way, I'd love to see what you could do with Rotary Connection's "Memory Band" on this. While listening I just kept thinking how great it might work with that tone and vibe.

There is no need for this piece of kit. What is the point? You can only play one note at a time. I'm a scratch-DJ and I'm in a band. My set up consists of a Roland synth/keyboard, akai mp and the two turntables. for one grand in England i could by my two turntables, mixer and a keyboard!!

You're missing the point. Controller One is supposed to help further the art, something harder to do with more traditional gear. Note also that it's Woody's 1st experiment with it. People thought "whats the point with turntables, you can only play records on them or move it back and foreward", then skratch DJs completely blew it into something more- and this is no different. Stop being so critical and just be glad theres still innovation in this genre.
