You may be right. All I can tell you is that we had the chimney inspected after burning pine in it all winter, and it passed with flying colors. Ken Craig at Professional Chimney Services says we are in great shape and that he doesn't need to come back for another check for another 4 years.

Do you have double wall stove pipe running from the stove up? Im asking because your stove and pipe look extremely close to the wall.

If you can help it dont burn pine, it is a soft wood and no good for burners.
also, get yourself a temp gage for the top of that burner so you dont over-heat that burner. You can get them too hot and damage them.
One last thing, when starting the fire leave the door cracked a little and it will help get it going better, just for a few minutes.
