Man, this is one of the few rock CDs I had back in middle school (I was really big on hip-hop, etc.) and once I listened through the whole album, I was absolutely hooked. Being picked up at the bus stop at 6 in the morning until going home at 2:30 in the afternoon, I listened to this song every chance I got. Middle school nostalgia for the fucking win.
@BURNOUTRS Haha, that too. I was looking for a new Starcraft Brood War name and while I was listening to this song it hit me, it's stuck with me ever since then.
This song brings back a ton of memories for me...I was in 7th grade and wanted so desperately to fit in and I only listened to shit that was on the radio or on TV. On a whim, I decided to check this album out, and needless to say, it blew my mind. It inspired me to be open to new things and better music. That was ten years ago, and I'll always think of AAF as the band that inspired me to be an individual. Thanks guys ♥
@RossNeill680 Dude dont be a dick, god forbid someone finds motivation from music? it happens all the time asshole and dont act like music has never impacted you before.
@RossNeill680 no sir u stfu all twelvethousandcats was trying to say was how great this band was to inspired them to become an individual and not a follower
i just saw these guys with about 29 other people in Sparks about an hour ago. the show was poorly promoted and nobody showed up. And they still rocked the house!! One of the best shows I've ever seen, hands down.
wow, i didn't even know they were still on the road, i'm definitely going to have to see if they're playing near me. that's upsetting that there was such a small turnout, they deserve many many fans. glad to hear they didn't let that get to them though!
ok...so i'll probably be the only person who thinks this way. but to those who've read the story The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi, don't the lyrics remind you of Emiko? the whole reference to cats (the chesire cats), and the canting of "just make it real", reminds me of her character.
In May 2002, the band was involved in a bus accident while touring in Spain. The driver, 26-year-old Christopher Holland, was killed, and lead singer Dryden Mitchell suffered a fractured C2 vertebra.
one of my favorite bands of all time. funny thing though, i once was helping out a student from japan and he knew more about them than i did, apparently they're really popular there, i had no idea. i wonder if they even know. \O.o/
Ya this album reminds me of my childhood too. It was my brother's favorite album, and I came to love it as well. Didn't care so much for their later stuff tho. Man, I hate getting older...
I dont think AAF is a "one hit wonder". Maybe Smooth Criminal was their biggest hit, but I can listen to this whole album and not skip one song. Same with their newer album. Songs that you know every word to them when you hear them after awhile :D
Well said ,Krisgebis.This whole album was badass,smooth criminal was "the quirky cover" happened to do well.Treat yourself and buy the whole album.Well worth it.
@KurtWinger I think they made a great 2nd album and couldn't or didn't want to emulate their success, so long as they are true to their music IDC, more of them for us :3
@KurtWinger - I've thought that so many times, but at the same time I gotta say, this is one of those bands that only I and none of my friends know and I can offer it confidentley in any conversation as one of those bands to turn people onto, they are literally one of the best bands I've ever heard.
@KurtWinger they are definitely amazing, but sadly they haven't had the same intensity that they put into the rift of smooth criminal in any of their own songs, if they could just do that then i would almost gaurentee that they wouldn't bee seen as a 1 hit wonder.
@KurtWinger i only found out like 2 days ago that they werent just another one hit wonder. im so amazed i had never heard any of their other stuff before... but now im buying this album as soon as possible :)
Really great band. I'm so sorry the Smooth criminal cover stole their thunder, because that song was some genuine mediocraty. The rest is really good stuff :-)

The way I see it:
Hoobastank = Diet Incubus
AAF = Diet Deftones
All the bands are good, but AAF and Hoobastank don't have the same sonic depth as Incubus and Deftones.
I love this song btw. This and S.S. Recognize are my two favorite AAF songs.
