  • This is amazing!!!! Mad props to you man!!!!

  • interesting, a hardware demo

  • There are coders and then there are wizards...

  • I'm an awfull programmingstudent who doesnt understand a shit about what this is :( kill me with fire...

  • Mind fucking blown. You're awesome!

  • You I'm just wondering, what do you do for a living. 'Cause beside this project I could not really imagine that you do any jobthat requires more thinking and brainwork...

Were you in any of the demo scenes? Sorry that I don't know of it ... yet :)

btw: this stuff is just too coool.... :)

  • @tmsaskg I've been working as a software engineer for a couple of years, but now I'm a PhD student.

Yes, I'm currently in the demo scene. Phasor was released at Breakpoint 2010.

  • That's awesome! I can't image how difficult it was to write such a realtime rendering and sound synthesis in 8.5 kB. C64 FLI mode or Amiga copper programming is trivial compared to it :-)

  • Set Phasors to "Stun".

  • Es un genio... quien pudiera tener esa habilidad.

  • Awesome!

Just one question: Is it just a kind of a "video player" which has a movie in its memory and just plays it back or is every animation a kind of program which is executing and calculating the image every once and again?

Hälsningar från polackerna :) / Greetings from poles!

  • @1950631 Thanks! It's a program which is calculating each new image in realtime. It would not be possible to fit a pre-rendered video into the 8.5 kB of ROM on this chip.

  • How about doing the Dr. Who theme?

  • Wow. Wow indeed.

  • Awesome work. May I ask you what model of tv/monitor you're using here? :)

  • @heloizyjhenifer Thanks! The monitor is a Deltaco TM7100.

  • Awesome work!

  • software synthesized composite video o_O unbelievable.

  • This reminds me of the Atari video music :O

  • how could anyone dislike this? hope it stays that way :D maze section at the end reminded me of a old freezers demo that i saw on an Amiga CD32. Excellent!

  • You are my new hero! What Demogroup are you a part of?

  • You are my new hero!

  • Oh shit! I almost cant believe this! Verry nice!

  • Snyggt jobbat!

  • best chiptunes by CRUDE and Razor1911 ;)

    yours is nice tho !

  • lol, his eyes tell that he's so proud of it

  • Ho and also, I forgot... I understand how to make all the stuff in this demo (just look at my videos, you will understand why, I already made this kind of stuff...) But it's always impressive because only a few peoples in the world are able to do that.

    You are the elite!

  • Nice. The end of your demo is like one part of the demo in "Substance from quartex" in an amiga demo... Did you get some ideas from it? it was one of my favorite.

  • This is completely beyond me

  • impressive...

  • You seriously should have been born 50 years ago, so that you would have been around to write music for video games.... this FAR outshines most that I can remember!!!

  • Amazing how you can do so much with so little. Not only is this science and technology, it's a work of art.

  • dude!!! how did you??? but... how???

  • Would love to see a rendition of Nathan Fake's "The Sky was Pink".

  • Another fantastic demo, all running on the simple ATmega88.

  • I don't get this, I don't know what I just watched, or how you did it. But it was flippin awesome.

  • This guy is fucking ridiculous!!!!

  • i have no idea what that is but it is amazing.

  • you know what would be cool? it the video output was an fft frequency analysis of the sound. X-} that would be SOOOOOOO cool. that should be your next project.

  • cool beans man. Always fun to watch your demos :)

  • You rule!

  • Everyone named Linus becomes a great hacker.

  • @Afrotechmods My Brother's name is linus, and knows very little about computers.

  • @Afrotechmods or a heartless murderer son of a. (Lost)

  • That was awesome good job

Brought me back to the Sonic days of Sega Genesis...never could beat the stupid clown city

  • @Saber8472 The secret is to stand on the barrel that goes up and down, then you can use up and down on the D-pad to make it swing into a different room and jump off to continue the level. You're welcome.

  • Snyggt demo, sjukt bra jobbat att få in det i atmegan!

  • You really should take a part in Assembly Summer Real Wild Demo compo. That kinda show on a atmega mpu kicks ass :D

  • I am totally astonished. And as jhaluska said, you are a true hacker.

  • I'm awestruck.. Amazing.. amazingly done.. And what a beautiful demo! Didn't know it was possible to even generate such cool sounding music on the avr, and you're doing it on top of beautiful video.. Well.. Thumbs up! :) I'll have to build this just to see it with my own eyes.. :)

  • insane asm skills :D kudos! (jag är lite kär i dig, åkesson)

  • Beside your technical skills I'm also impressed, you also manage to come up with a different style with each demo, love it

  • I was hoping for a new one despite the news at one point that the demo party wouldn't happen... I am glad to see that new demo and love it! Another production that will run in loop for the months to come.. ^.^ with Craft and Turbulence! I hope a new one will be shinning in 2011... and celebrate the 4th demo of that incredible series!!! - Thumb Up lftkryo!!!

  • Nicely done! Alot of code and data :)

The music was very happy and uplifting, made me dance at BP \o/

  • Ever time I see your demos, I'm amazed that you can do so much with such a limited platform. You're hacker of the truest sense.

  • incredible demo. Kudos!

  • Lovely 8bit music, i loved your craft video aswell, turbulence is pretty impressive aswell but i did not like the music on that though

  • I just love your work. It's always worth the wait. So are you just using the microcontroller to generate the signal? That's pretty cool.

  • Way more challenging compared to Craft, looks way smoother and more complex in some areas. I was especially impressed with 3:15 and beyond, the pseudo-3D at 4:40 is just too awesome for words

  • Wicked, you're an inspiration.

  • Wow, very nice!

  • Wow, generating a COMPOSITE video signal from an ATMega88? Even more amazing than Craft!

  • Perfect ;O

  • Wow! I'm in awe! Thanks for sharing the schematics and the full sources. I've read how you generate the composite signal and it's really ingenious.

  • Awesome as usual Linus... Going to look up composite video now!
