  • I loved it until you popped in those verses, which seem to have little or nothing to do with the song but more to do with your own paranoia.

Sometimes I think the worse thing about being a Christian is the other Christians.

  • 4 all the aiethist posting the rude comments you are the ones looking up the song i aint buddist but i do not go and say rude things about them and i dont to aeithiest neither so keep the comments to your self

  • thank you very much theworldingrayscale. :) I would like to say something my pastor mentioned tonight. He stated that with many christians God can not get many of them to do his will. And then he stated how can someone be like that when the all powerful and might God who can do anything he wants is always in front of you leading you and always saying it will be okay. How can you not do what he asks?

  • and lol i shouldve said this earlier but u did a great job majorjesusfreak101

  • I see that my last comment has been mysteriously removed. What a surprise. There's hypocrisy here when the freedom to post one's opinion and response is not fully allowed. May new policies be put in place allowing full and complete freedom.

  • Don't worry, it probably wasn't Lumpy :)

  • ilove your username!!

  • omgosh people also have the freedom to delete or get rid of comments

  • hey lance i just checked my music video and it has been about a year since i last checked and i have not deleted any comments at all.

  • Can't we just enjoy the song???

  • well you guys are cool arguing on Youtube.

  • thanks for all the comments. All the pictures i had were what i had taken and some would not work so i had to compromise. I live out in the middle of nowhere pratically and as for doing a video type thing, dont have the program What i said was mainly to get you to think and sometimes that is the trick is to get people thinking about it

  • Learned this song with my band. Playing at a church concert :D

  • love this band :D

  • I thought it was okay until you brought in the verse stuff and the stuff about believing out of fear of the future; that stuff sucked. We'd all like to know the Cause of the Effects. 'God' is but the X factor that none can ever prove or disprove. It's just an easy way to deal with the question itch. All the really useful answers are Within you. Treat others the way you want to be treated and you're More than halfway home. Don't, and you'll never really get where you want to be. Good journey.

  • Bur perfection is the standard for eternal life. Because I am not perfect, I can not reach perfection by delving into myself. That's why I need Christ! :)

  • Bullshit. Perfection is not the standard for eternal life. Perfection is a subjective term. There is no eternal life. Time for you to grow up. Quit leaning on your crutch. I realize doing so makes you feel better, but you can feel better once you wake fully up.

Stand up and be the way you were supposed to be from the start. Drop the superstition. Good luck.

  • Well, if I was meant to be anyting, that would imply someone created me. Don't worry, I am growing up at a substantial rate. Perfection is not at all a subjective term simply because it is without flaw. That is perfection. You're right that I do need to lean on Christ, but believe me, that does not make being a Christian easy in any sense of the word. Have a nice (sunny) day!

  • Again, bullshit. Yes, we all desire to know the Cause of the Effect. Instead of actually studying, you've gone lazy. You've put a false face on the great unknown instead. No all-seeing invisible super being. It makes you feel better to think there is;to do so is childish. We once worshiped the sun. If you're going to worship, worship Truth, Compassion and Responsibility. Seek goodness and that which works. Seeking absolute perfection is a sad waste of life. Good luck.

  • Yes, so with our desire to know the cause, we come up with wild superstitions with absolutely no form of empirical evidence whatsoever - like multiple universes, and the idea that the universe is a necessary existence, and that it can't not exist - in other words, nothing is an impossibility, as there must always be something, so scientists theorize multiple universes being created through black holes.

    And Christians are superstitious?

  • Trying to justify age old superstitions as being like the latest theories - based on known physics by the way - is lame. Revel in your superstitions. Live in lies if you like. At least the physicists are trying to learn the actual way things are, not lazily leaning on falsehood and fear. Good luck.

  • Known physics, eh? Last time I checked, black holes were still largely a mystery on which no tests have been done. Not to mention, last time I checked, no matter how you slice it, nothing can not produce something.

Of course, I'm a Christian - I suppose that automatically makes my beliefs illogical, based upon old, unproven fairy tales with no historical, philosophical, logical, or empirical grounds or evidence.

  • YES, known physics. But you're too lazy to get updated. What a surprise. For you to think of those things you're unaware of a 'nothing' tells me how unwilling to study and keep an open mind you are. Revel in your belief in supernatural beings.

Yes, being Christian pretty much automatically makes you closed of mind. A pity, that. 'Christians' have done a lot of horrible murderous things based on what they thought the bible said was right. You're just following in their steps. My condolences.

  • Ah, so, would you like to make any more wild assumptions?

My mind is no more closed than yours is - if we want to go into assumptions, I'll make one here - though, you're surely unable to accept that fact in the light of logic; most likely too stuck in illogical philosophies.

A pity, you're following in the footsteps of many athiests, who have done some horrendous things through out history for what is mostly selfish reasons while hiding under the guise of guise of having an "open mind"

  • Christianity is simply a relationship with the Creator. What has that to do with how open-minded a person is?

  • Well, dummy, an open-minded person listens to all sides and then makes the most reasonable decision. A close minded one is naive and decides to go with what he/she wants to believe is so, not what actually is. I shouldn't have had to tell you that. You should have already known. You have my pity and revulsion. Stop asking dumb questions. Answer them yourself. Good luck.

  • Your argument is based upon assumptions and most likely recycled sayings you've heard your peers say mixed with a bit of typical internet-elitism.

Your assumptions, and closed minded dogmatic approach to things makes you as bigoted as any Christian; you've come to the conclusion that your beliefs, and only those which line up to yours, are the right ones. Everything else is superstition and nonsense - despite evidence and logic.

You've categorized yourself in defining what closed minded is.

  • My assumptions are based on observation. Yours are based on fear, lies and naivety.

You are quite welcome to tell yourself all the lies you want to. You've become adept at it. You must yourselves lies everyday in order for your 'beliefs' to continue. Your delusion must, no doubt, feel very comfortable by now. You go by whatever lies make everything make sense. How sad. You have my pity and revulsion. Good luck.

  • You merely hold a typical atheistic anti-supernatural approach. You're assumptions are flawed, because you're observations are incredibly limited, and filtered through your pre-supposed world-view. You've not looked at things objectively without bias, nor have you even taken the time to address the very matters brought against your argument; only held on to the idea that you're right, and I'm wrong. The irony is that your argument is easily applied to you with a slight twist.

  • Pardon me, but you really don't know whether or not I study. I actually spend a great deal of my time researching facts, history, science, philosophy, and theology. The difference is that my interpretation is far different than yours. God is the Truth, and He is who I worship. We have faith is gravity, no matter how invisible, because there is evidence. My faith in God is similar.

  • Sorry, no, no pardon for you. Your statements belie exactly what kind of person you are.

'God' is the lazy person's word for all that he/she doesn't know. We all want to know the cause of the effect. Just because we may never know doesn't mean we should roll over and call it all 'God'. That's lazy and childish and you know it. The old BS axiom about things invisible is as old as you great granny. Drop it and live in the now. Quit hiding. Good luck.

  • I'm not hiding behind anything. If I were to hide, I would hide my beliefs: but I believe there is a God and Creator. I believe that nothing we see here magically appeared out of no where. I believe maybe you have been hurt in the past, and I am sorry. But I also believe that my faith is real.

  • Oh, and by the way, there is no Santa Claus. People play the role. If someone asks you if you are superstitious, if you are honest at all, you must say 'yes'. You have my pity.

Yes, we all want to know how and why, but to simply give in and say 'God did it' is sadly childish. I can but hope that sometime during your life you will come that a new fresh realization. Oh well. We once worshiped the sun.

  • I hope one day that you're mind will be opened and you'll move from your clearly uneducated and silly ways; I hope you're mind will become enlightened by the truth of what really is, not what you think, and hope is.

  • Give it a break, silly person. I hope one day you'll learn to use the right 'your' when you type. You're the one who is deluded, believing in an invisible supernatural being. Live in lies all you want. I choose to live with what truly is, not falsehood and naivety. Take a walk.

  • I made a typo - man, I guess everything I say should be discredited due to one minor mistake. Hello, logical fallacy.

Your views are more irrational than mine are - you're just too closed minded to realize it. You're re-hashing the same thing - recycled words without any argument, proof, citations, or logical reasoning behind them, littered with logical fallacies, and if stretched, surely self-defeating statements.

Sorry, but "nature did it" is the lazy atheists' way of thinking.

  • Sir, it is not superstitian if backed by science. I am a woman of logic and science, believe it or not. Again, the difference is that my interpretation varies greatly from yours. Would you like me to list some of the books I discovered to be helpful?

  • Silly person, call yourself whatever, but if you believe in an invisible supernatural being you aren't a person of science. Science is learning the way things are, not the way we'd like them to be. Saying "God made it so." is as useful as saying "It's red because it's red.".

There are good books and books filled with tripe. A collection of pages doesn't make 'em truth filled. Live with your self delusions. I prefer to use my brain to learn how things truly are. Drop it. Harass somebody else.

  • I am not trying to harass you, sir, but I apologize if it comes across that way. I study the way things are, not the way I'd like them to be. I believe that the fact that every physical feature of a baby is determined after the first day of conception is evidence of irriducable complexity. I have scientific facts, if you would like to hear them.

  • "I am not trying to harass you, sir,"

Liar. 'Evidence of irreducible complexity'? That which is complex to you can always be reduced to simpler aspects! Get real. Oh, never mind. I think you're a fool. Be that way. You're in the majority. Enjoy it. If the USA could sell stupidity we'd be nicely solvent in just a few months. Again, you have my pity and revulsion.

  • I am not so sure I am in the majority. Irriducible complexity means simply that aspects of creation can not be boiled down to evolution.

  • The concept of irreducible complexity is specious, as in bogus, false and misleading. You've taken a sad wrong turn due to wanting things to be the way you wish them to be. I can but hope that in time you will grow further and develop a desire to see things as they truly are and appreciate that wonder. There is beauty in mystery. Someday we may know it all. Filling in the holes with tripe, as you have, is sad and a waste of time.

  • I wasn't always a Christian, sir, until I realized that beauty and mystery is God.

  • I wasn't always agnostic, madam, until I realized how silly and lazy it was to label all that which I don't know or understand as 'God'.

  • Not everything we don't understand is God. He does, however, help me understand them. The Psalms say "Your word is a lamp to my feet." I agree. He has healed me from a lot in this life- something that was impossible otherwise.

  • 'Not everything we don't understand is God.'

Uh oh, you're getting into dangerous theological territory there. You should quit while you're...um...

We used to worship the sun. Now we know how stars work. Genetics used to be 'God'. Now we know how that works. Live in your self delusion. I realize how comfortable and comforting it is. You clearly want to be comfortable no matter what. My condolences.

  • Sir, life isn't about comfort. In fact, the Bible teaches to not become to comfortable or complacent. One can reach dangerous waters when said complacency occurs. Life isn't easy, and life isn't sunshine and daisies. Christianity isn't always easy either. But we're all sky-diving, and I personally chose a parachute.

  • Madam, show me where I said that life is about comfort. Keep your book to yourself. Yes you chose a mental parachute, out of fear and psychological laziness. Your 'God' is so small that She/He/It requires credit. The one I might pay homage to requires nothing. If you're going to worship something, worship Compassion, Honesty and Responsibility. Clearly, by what you have written, you are unwilling to do so. Because of your actions and choices you have my pity.

  • The One I worship asks to have a relationship. He is compassion, and He is honesty. He is the source of all good things and He asks me- and you- to be His child. I can't imagine a better relationship than that. No, Sir, I am not psycologically lazy- if anything, I am overly analytical. And you never said life was about comfort, but you implied that that is what I feel. I can assure you, it most certainly isn't! Merry Christmas early, by the way :)

  • Lance,

I assume by what you wrote here that you value Compassion. You also state in your first post to treat people as you want to be treated, but from reading what you've wrote, I've seen little evidence of compassion or of treating others fairly. So by the standard you've set for yourself, you would be judged a "sinner" and in need of a Savior. And if there is no God, what makes Compassion and Honesty more valid than Vengence and Lies? Like you said it's subjective,

  • Well, lumpy2021, the fact that you've taken the time to read through some of what I wrote, tells us here that you've got way too much time on your little hands. You need to get out and do good things.

I treat those with compassion that act and speak with such. Those who are cruel may well receive just that. God or no God, compassion and honesty are the rational ways to go and you should already know that. That you've had to ask tells me that you need help. I hope you'll get it soon.

  • So your rationality is conditional? If you're treated with compassion you behave rationally and if you are treated in a way you perceive to be cruel, you act irrationally. Jesus taught that only loving those who love you back makes you no better than the next guy. God calls us to a higher standard. I'm praying that God helps me to really love you, cause you're very prickly and hard to love. I pray that Christ helps both of us to find salvation and show grace to everyone in our lives. God Bless.

  • Rationality?

    Subjective. Eye of beholder.

J taught loving those who love makes u no better than the next.

Unless u've been reading the Aramaic version, you don't really know what was said.

G calls to a higher standard.

Our higher ideals call us to a higher standard. Sometimes we let that phone ring.

Praying that G helps me love u.

G = X factor. U need to step out into the light of reality. Prayer is magic thought. I don't believe in magic thought.

  • If you admit that rationality is subjective then why say you value compassion and honesty when they too become subjective. If the ultimate authority on TRUTH is human intellect than there is no authority because its all subjective. You couldn't accuse Hitler of doing anything more than acting according to his own rationale, and you have no business sitting in judgement of Christians or anyone else because your values transcend nothing.

  • Actually, I have read Matthew 5 in an Aramaic translation and found that most english translations do a good job at relaying the message. Of course, we werent there so who's to say what language Jesus used during that sermon. In fact, how can we trust anything about the ancient world at all if we cant read all of the stories in their original languages? For that matter how can we have faith in anything that we haven't seen for ourselves? Yet we do have faith in all sorts of things don't we?

  • then how do you have faith in the wind? you cant see the wind. Sorry that was a low blow. what is your reason for not believing?

  • Yours is bladderflap. I'm certainly going to come to my own conclusions about that which I experience, directly or indirectly.

You need to grow up and do good things, not poke at those who don't live in your little hole of perception.

Jesus - if he even actually existed - was not the first to speak of love and treating others decently. You've fallen to peer pressure. My condolences. May you grow and stop believing in invisible super beings.

  • Oh well if it's bladderflap...sorry for wasting you're time. I thought we were talking about God and not C-sections.

  • You take up too much room discussing things that are a bit too heavy for a YouTube comments section. Other people have to read this (or at least see it - a waste of space)! Please be considerate of the people who want to enjoy the video. Please discuss your opinions in private!

  • Elle, I'm sorry that the on-going arguments bothered you. In my own defense I'd point out that my posts are over 3 months old. Jars of Clay is a Christian band, so people who put their faith in Christ, and enjoy the band, are likely to visit this site and post. Lance was saying some things that I felt the need to respond to in order to give a reason for my faith. I do apologize but I cant say that I won't do it again. God is heavy subject, but too important to ignore.

  • i have got to say that i just got back from boot camp and decide to check my music video and... wow.

  • actually lance Jesus did actually exist and it can be proven. There are many kings, scholars, scribes, and others of the sort who have spoken of Jesus, and it is written down and documented while Jesus was alive.

  • Thank You!!!

    God Bless

  • hes not an invisable "super being" he is the one the only wise king that not only died but died a death on the cross and weather choose to believe in YOUR savior is all up to u god bless

  • im sorry i mistook one of your earlier.... i mean later comments

  • GodsWildFire is correct we christians are not a majority but a minority.

  • ok, just telling you, people are trying to disagree with you politely, and he DEFINITELY wasn't harrassing you...I'm a christian, and I'm not naive . I know a lot about the world and am very involved with politics and current events. I just choose to worship God. Calling this laziness is extremely insulting; being a Christian is MUCH harder than

  • being an atheist like you because there is much more of an incentive for us to follow what God wants us to when you, who doesn't believe in heaven or hell, have no motivation to do so (as can be seen from your overly rash insults when everyone else is trying to be so polite) I think that your self-righteousness and closed-mindedness have stopped you from realizing that your knowledge of the whole of christianity is veeeeeeery limited.

  • awesome song and vid, I love the scripture verses too :D

  • liking the nature pics, and the song is great! you've also started a good discussion topic here :D

  • Some language sounded condemning, the stuff about for your sake, you better believe or you will go to hell while I go to heaven. We need to be encouraging and welcoming (though without condensing the message), bluntness sometimes loses this effect.

  • hi how are you jesusfreak

  • awesome. out of all their songs i love this one the most.

  • Good.God Blees ya

  • I have similar thoughts to the other posters - nice pics but changes could be timed better - listen for chord changes and pauses in the song. The Scriptures and 'preaching', for me took up too much of the video and frames changed too quickly for me to read - but I did notice that your spelling was very poor!

How about interspersing the scripture frames with the pics rather than one huge block? and cut down (not out!) the preaching. Very good first attempt though. Keep going :-)

  • Yes i am a guy

  • Brother is correct and thank you

  • love this song

  • Good Job, keep up the Good Work for Christ

  • thanks

  • It's a good idea but I'd vary the pictures a little more. More mediums, and mixed up a lot more. Also if you're going to use text, make sure you a) check your spelling and b)don't use short hand (for example, "u" instead of "you"). If you have a message and you want people to take you seriously, misspelling stuff will not help. Other than that, pretty good!

  • hey everyone the lord is coming back soon and we need to get out there and spread Gods word before it is to late
