This art of streching is just god when you hawe some flexibility. When you are wery flexible but you need a litle bit more. Than its ok. But Otherwise no.
@YoungKoolness17 : You must have pulled your muscle not too long ago. It means that you might have over stretched or pulled your muscle while doing excessive training.
@ryanWeap its basically a necessity to force stretch when you are in the higher level and are lacking in flexibility. ask any elite taekwondo practitioner or elite gymnast and they will tell you that when they needed flexibility, methods were usually looked pretty extreme
@KidFonz1 well i got flexible from yoga, palates and kung fu in there i never did force stretching so to stay flexible i do a yoga routine at least 3 hours a week i say it is good to be flexible because if you fall wont hurt as much but slipping is the worst easy to sprain and pull a muscle
No, i dont like this i do have a black belt in taekwondo and looking at this is irresponsible the could pull something or worse tare something you cant push it like that it must be taken slow.
@netjap23 well, coming from a second dan black belt fighting is part of the curriculum. belt promotion also consists of oral test, form or kata, sparring, and most importantly board breaking.
Looks like they're having fun, but also looks completely irresponsible and unprofessional on the part of the instructor. Stretching is more effective and less injury prone if relaxation is encouraged and breathing cultivated. Can't tell from the video, but the stretch should be worked into from a specific series of stretches for the lower back, buttocks, groin, calves, thigh and psoas muscle, using proper isolation on a leg-by-leg basis.
ughh thats why i out from my taekwondo team and join cheerleading.... cause my coach(sabam or somethin we call it..) never let us to learn stretching alone they always push it...
hahahaa.....

You dont have to force it otherwise it will cause minute tears in the muscle.. however, constant stretching can result to a good split
