If you ever have the chance to play this game in multiplayer with some friends. The snipper matches, scilenced is the way to go. So much fun. These games had so many options for mulitplayer the newer games should take note. Playing handguns only in CQB silenced no frags is again so much fun. I'm sure this game can be had for $5 someplace. Well worth the hours of fun.
Ghost Recon's AI reacted too quickly and was able to pull of the craziest trick shots without missing. Sometimes you'd get shot in OGR while only being able to see an OPFOR's head... like the head has a mounted turret. Personally I prefer the original Flashpoint or ArmA's AI to OGR. This game is a pain when in a factory window 300 meters away, only visible is their head, presumably for them as well, they shoot ONE shot and hit you.
Some people may crucify me for saying this, but even though games nowadays are all "shiny graphics" and yes, this game is better then the rest of the Ghost Recons, but Crysis is a perfect example of great, realistic gameplay and incredible graphics. Theirs full customizeable weapons, intelligent AI (i know, their a little buggy), ability to lean, go prone, weapon ballistics (bullet kinetic energy and traveling speed), insane physics, and great sandbox environments which really feel like jungles
Nice although I liked the silence gameplay, I did like the background music that was implemented in Ghost Recon Jungle Storm, it still retained its realism and all but the music made it feel more intense. To bad the PC versions didnt have music or Jungle Storm
I remember playing OGR, and damn the AI was insane. You'd advance past and an ambush would come from behind. One guy goes down they all take cover. I'm installing it right now.
Same with Rainbow Six- I remember playing that for N64 before I got a PC. My brother and I would play for HOURS.
It's exactly what a tactical shooter should have been. Nice quiet gameplay, shuffling of feet and gear, a little "tap" when you fire, and a quiet "tango down". Now everything's just about eye candy, and bogging your GPU down with effects that take away from realism. I'm sorry, but HDR is waaaay overrated and overused... Last I checked, the world wasn't glowing bright orange.
Original Ghost Recon (and expansions) were the best, by far. It was class over flash, but still looked great anyway. No game since has matched that feeling of crawling through the grass in the rain... Ubi sold out and went in the mindless arcade shooter direction with the rest of the series. I guess someone has to keep the "oooh! shiny!" idiots happy.
I think the only game that is more realistic than ghost recon is Operation Flashpoint(the first,OFP2 will be a crap),it has a very realistic gameplay and a big variety of addons and modifications like ghost recon =]
I HATE the new GR games. OGR and GRIT had the best gameplay mechanics and AI out of the lot. Open-ended with decently smart opponents that you are actually able to sneak up on.
I OWN BOTH OGR and GRIT on XBOX and beat them both on ELITE difficulty on my own with two squads not 3 like PC. I'LL NEVER GET RID OF THEM. I'LL BE RID OF HALO BEFORE THESE TWO!!
Exactly. And those AI wasn't even "scripted" at all. Sadly, all latest "tactical" or "realistic" FPS's AI seems dumbed down for console-market. Even for PC. I miss coop days in good ol R6 and GR.
The enemies in Ghost Recon are complete homos.

Hell yeah mate, you and me both the same.

That's some good AI considering how old the game is.
How they take cover and try to suppress you, also how sometimes they have the ability to utilise stealth and try to sneak up on you.

This GR's AI wasn't bad at all, but in some situations they were like deaf or blind so it wasn't difficult to take them out.
I had been hoping the AI in GRAWs to be even better but unfortunately it's not :/ Maybe in the next GR...
