To me this Mike Oldfield song shine is about science fiction shows and science fiction films, I love this song and it also tells me not to delay things in this life. The sci-fi shows it reminds me of are Doctor Who, B7, Star Maidens, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and also Fireball XL5. It is an excellent song and I never get fed up of listening to it, I can listen to this song Millions, Billions and even Trillions of times which is good.

The guitar solo seriously rips - one of Mike's best. It was interesting that in a later interview, it was mentioned to Mike that Jon liked everything about the record except the "silly lyrics". That struck Mike as particularly odd, because Jon wrote the lyrics. ^_^
