  • This IS such a BADASS SONG!!!!!!!!!!

  • Killer...bring back Mikey!

  • Eddie is so prolific and masterful! Amazing match of great looks, charisma and atitude from BOTH him and Roth created the perfect storm of talent like Page/Plant, Lennon/McCartney and countless others.

  • Check out VH News Desk.... The New VH will be out Soon, and it sounds like CVH....

  • they should release their demos on a big box set

    they just kick ass

  • "this one could make it to the new record in 2008..."

that would be a ballsy statement since they're past their prime of dying young already

  • @NormKeeperofKeys They die old, bold, and most of all......Awesome!!!

  • I LIKE THE BUCKETHEAD THING THE GUY IS GOOD YOU KNOW, I LIKE HIS TALENT HATS OF TO HIM BUT ED GOT THE WHOLE SOUND GOING YOU KNOW. ED IS AN ISTITUTION TO THE ELECTRIC GUITAR TODAY, THE WAY ITS MADE AND SOUNDS AND THANK GOD WE HAD HIM THATS ALL.

  • great song

  • Don't be fooled! Dave and Ed are gonna rip us a new one in 2011. Just wait and see!

  • what cd is this song on? EDDIE Is the Best then maybe George Lynch

  • @ronaldv525 Its not on a CD bud D:

  • @ronaldv525 It's not on a CD. This maybe one of the songs they recorded for Gene Simmons back in the 70's. I've always heard they've had a master recording of 30 or 40 songs that they borrowed form thru the years.....peace+love2all......

  • I would definitely call it 4/4, though you could also call it 12/8. It's definitely not 6/8 though. I love that there's all of this bootleg stuff that I've never heard before, it's certainly making the wait for the new album much easier.

  • this is a godlike song by the way

  • Hope their new album is like this......awesome!

  • you guys are pulling down other artists on a youtube video? wow that's dumb

    as fuck.

  • fuck buckethead

  • @waterburyjoe you piece of little shit, fuck you instead, from 77 77 years old benga grandpas from behind

  • @jackieben94 don't call me a piece of shit because i dont like buckethead, eddie van halen is way better by far. just dont like buckethead sorry, i dont come down on u for what you may like or not. so dont start the trash talking. i like what i like and so do you whats the big deal?

  • @waterburyjoe Read your comment again and then say who started the "trash-talking". Both Buckethead and the Van Halens are good artists, there's no best one, and if you don't like someone keep it to yourself

  • HAHAHAHA THIS IS NOT 6/8 AT ALLL .....

  • Kinda has that "Pleasure Dome" feel to it & add a lil "House Of Pain" to it...

  • I think it would be neat if the next VH album had a second disc, where they play some club days originals and maybe a few burnin' covers like "The Rover" by Zeppelin. This tune would sound AWESOME re-recorded at 5150!!

  • It could be 6/8 or 4/4 swing time. I think he was thinking more 4/4 shuffle

  • @theShowStopper321 no sir, it aint 6/8 no matter how you dice it up. It's 4/4 all day long. If you want 6/8 think Hendrix manic depression or maybe allman brothers whipping post. completely different. peace, D

  • yes....i agree. when did Buckethead have a hit song?

  • EVH IS The formost guitarist of the 20th century! They ned to release this one! Efin sweet.

  • @04mustangSVT You got that right man Ed reinvented revoulotinized and revived it all and has never been out done !!

  • Swing eights by Ed and Al!

  • love.this.throwback.

  • Haha, I love the picture @ 1:33! Only Dave can pull off wearing a shirt with a drawing of HIMSELF on it!

    P.S. This song rules...

  • not to burst anyone's bubble, but this sounds kinda like the song Marky Mark and John C Reilly were working on in 'Boogie Nights'.

  • @TitusPulloJr excellent.....lol...

  • Did I hear a Brian May influence with the main riff? I can't remember on what Queen song I heard a rhythm pattern like that.

  • i heard it as well. i think you might be thinken of "keep yourself alive" maybe.

  • Didnt EVH and B.May do an album together for some movie soundtrack or somthing like that???

  • look for the Starfleet album.

  • Thank YOU! That was it

  • Vintage V.H. BALLS!!!!

  • @TBplayer12

    yup

  • Dude, LOVE this riff. Soo good.

  • so when is the new vh album supose to come out?

  • an official date hasn't been released. but Ed did say that they're going to be doing another Tour sometime maybe late this year and next year

  • Don't worry Ed and Al are working on it,it takes time to create music, then put lyrics to it,and have it sound good the way VH music always is.Then they have to record it all in the studio.Patience my friend.

  • there hasnt been any original VH music since 04 and that was 3 lousy songs. Except for Ed doing porn songs, there hasnt been a full VH record since 95. In 96 they wrote 2 songs with Roth.

wheres the tunes guys? The party is on going, but we're ``partying and old party". 14 years is a long time.

  • @helimech60 What, 13 years?! That's funny, because it took 'em 7 days to record their first album and they managed to change the course of rock music with that one.

  • @helimech60 all older fans are upset because they used to finish albums in literally days so i can kinda understand why people are impatient

  • Dime was buried with EVH's Bumblebee guitar. Also, Eddie's "Shark" is an Ibanez Destroyer, it's the equivalent of a Gibson Explorer.

  • great song

  • Eddie Van Halen is the main inspiration to me. Dimebag and Ace Frehley in his prime days too. And of course Page, Matthias Jabs and Kirk Hammett.

  • Yeah-about dime-he actually brought guitar and solos back into mainstream rock, not just a bunch of d-tuned crap with no solos!! Make that thing wail!!

  • Dime? Not a fucking poser, dude, not a pretty boy.. The dude could play his ass off and brought more guitar to the plate than most of these fucking posers that call themselves guitarists nowadays. He was a breath of fresh air for those who appreciated solos and real fucking guitar playing. If you play guitar you need to fuckin listen and try some of his shit yourself. Then comment back. He was badass....

  • Dimebag is legend as EVH. Pantera are one of the best fucking bands of all time. Stop dissing him fuckhead

  • best chorus of all the unreleased vh gems

  • Too bad this never mad it onto an album...like bendit says, its kind of maidenesque, different from their norm. Great guitar tone too

  • I like the Iron Maiden gallop! Ed was pretty fkn metal.

  • This was actually made around the same time Iron Maiden was forming(mid 70's), so I doubt they were any kind of influence. I'm not trying to argue, thats just my opinion.

  • Iron Maiden are good. But Van Halen are better in my opinion

  • I agree.

  • the drum sound is amazing for a demo

  • this is definitely a song that was a demo (i know duh right?) but you hear alot of elements that eddie chopped up and use for other tunes. you hear a lil snippets that sound like alot of stuff off of VH II and Women & Children First. and i personally feel it's a little too old sounding for what he's aiming for. then again he might dig it up and give it a total face lift. you never know

  • ur gay

  • are you serious? Buckethead is shit compared to EVH

  • EVH is a genius. He would place in piano competitons in his youth in the stae of California simply by watching his teacher's hands and by following his ears. EVH can't read music...but he could nail Frederic Chopin...what a real talent--not to mention his guitar prowess.

  • Comment removed

  • state/seen

  • @dxvolt

Shutup you pussey, they are both good in their own way

  • @dxvolt i absolutely agree- who the fuck is buckethead?the guy playing with AXL? shit please

  • @dxvolt i AGREE!!

  • new album in 08? ha-maybe in 2010

  • DLR is so damn sexy!

  • EVH set the bar very high and simply enjoys being a musician. Dimebag, Zakk, Jimi or Jimmy, Yngwie whomever they just express what it is that they want to express - and they're damn good at what they express.

There isn't "a best guitarist" it's just taste. EVH is phenomenal though and without a doubt one of my fav's.

  • This would fit into "Fair Warning", "Van Halen" or "1984"

  • better yet put it on diver down, to give that record something that makes us think of those 3 albums you said

  • 5150EVH5150, thank you, thank you! A lot more Van Halen to enjoy. Best to you, and more power always.

  • ya its true, he buried it with dimebag. because eddie was one of dimebag's biggest inspirations

  • F-ing killer. No bigger fan of Eddie.

  • Thanks dude

  • I heard eddies black and yellow guitar is buried with dimebag, that true?

  • The guitar on the cover of "women and children 1st" is...but rumor has it, its not the exact one. Eddie ruined that gutar by drilling a hole in it- it never sounded the same, so he says.

  • WRONG glowasted..its the guitar from VH2 , and it IS THE EXACT guitar from that cover..the black and yellow...there is an audio interview of ed discussing that FACT , as well as t least two print interviews....rumour has it that u dont know what YOU r talking about....

    good day

  • good day...? dick. whens the last time vh2 had anyone on it as far as I know mf, it was a giant VH logo- YOU ARE ADICK, SOOOOOOOOO BIGTIME YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IT VH2 !?? you fuckin retard. LLLOOL!!! GAYROD!!!

  • u r a COMPLETE IDIOT...its the guitar he A) recorded the album with,..,...and the guitar that B) is in FAC?T pictured on the album...look at the back NIMROD....and re-read my coment u loser..i NEVER SAID it was 'PICTURED' on the album dumbass...and guess what lil WANNABE..i had the '78 album two weeks after it was out , and EVERY ONE SINCE (even hagar and gary) the DAY they were available in stores...so u bought '84 2h3n it came out?.....lmao, ahh oine of the 'DIE HARD 'fans eh?..lmao

  • MG you are sooo gay- read your FUCKIN WORDS ORIGINALLY, here I'll quote it for you DUMB ASS>>>"...from that cover..." OMG what a dick not only do you know what your talking about my little dipshit you cant even quote yourself!!!!!!LLLOOOLLL! DIE HARD FANS..eh? dick or what DICK! reaqd it motherfuckin your a L>O>S>E>R>(you)

  • well, i guess stoned i did..lmao..but it IS the guitar ON that album, and PICTURED on it...and yes dweeb , when u were NINE years old i was covering VH songs from one and two , and WCF and fair warning, and am quite aware u KNOB what each ablum LOOKEd lkike , hell idiot , i almost know the credits and times for each song word for word...so if u wanna hang ur hat's sad argument the fact i made a TYPO , and didnt recll doing so , and MEANT something completely different ,

  • CONTINUED

then go ahead and be foolish and combative...dude , the point i was making , and that others were as well is that it IS the guitar, the one from VH2 that is...u know the album , the blueish one with a giant VH logo on it?...the one i bought in 1979 WHEN IT CAME OUT , and that YOU got into years later and werent even aware of until u heard the radio hits?...u know , THAT album

run along BOY ...i wont waste time responding to someone who lacks life so much like YOU

    VH!

  • I will always be combative for VH, thats the difference between me and you- you butcher facts.

  • look lil BOY, enough is enough...YOU 'BUTCHERED' facts , and bad...its the guitar from VH2 , not from WCF as YOU were mentioning..and where and when was the 'ALLEGED' rumour, that u claim is going around, that it wasnt buried w dime?....now lets see if u can SPECIFICALLY respond to THOSE issues , and do so WITHOUT butchering any facts , or trying to be insulting...moron..

'i will ALWAYS be combative for van halen'...lmao..ROFLMAO...well, thats just awsome for a bandwagon fan to do...lmao

  • last but not least- you actually admit you bought Gary VH. glad to know where your head is at. I'll be insulting all I want to retards who dont know what they are talkin g about. You say your mistake was a "typo" wrong, you cant even admit you are wrong. your comments are null and void as for being a true fan.

  • Please guys stop arguing I love Van Halen also. But I'm afraid I wasn't born untill years later the original line up was split up.Yet I wuld hate that this video was taken out cause of your discusion. The truth is(to me)that there is always a bigger fish. I wuld say that my self c in my country almost no one knew VH when I was like 14 but then I knew a guy who let me stoned of how much he knew of them.So please if you love Van Halen then I thankfully apreciate if you don't agrue please.

  • actually that Yellow and Black stripped guitar wasn't built until after the recording of VHII. It only shows up in the Album Liners and tour because that's when it was finished...

  • He played the white with black stripes for the album, same as VH1. But I don't agree with the Dimebag comment, I didn't like their music but he was pretty good.

  • go fuck yourself man dime bag darrel is just as good as any guitarist

  • WHAT AN INTELLIGENT RESPONSE...

  • why yes it is thank you for noticing cocksucker :)

  • you dont know shit fag. im from dallas and i knew dime when they played at a dive called joe's garage in ft. worth in the 80's and he worshipped eddy van halen so fuck you and go fuck your momma and sister simple peasant! dime was an exceptional guitarist. phil on the other hand was a closet fag with limited talent!

  • I see you're using you big vocabulary words... I wouldn't want to tax your mental capabilities too much so I'll keep my rebuttal short and use only a fifth grade level of vocabulary: Worshiping doesn't mean you are Eddie Van Halen... And Dimebag still cannot even compare to Van Halen or other greats like Satch, Gilbert, Malmsteen or Batio..

Have a nice day my mentally inferior and vocabulary challenged opponent.

  • you're a HUGE loser. For fucks sake get a life

  • Batio lol

  • looks like everyone's getting along here too.

blasty5150 has even wrote me about eddie fuck/it why argue with these "no-hear for talent" blokes.

  • I kind of have to agree with TheAnarchistPrince here. Dime Bag was just a good guitarist. FAR from some GREAT guitarist. He was a dime a dozen kind of player (nothing wrong with that) but it is true. He was good. You can even say VERY good but not a pimple on the ass of the great EVH. Not even close. Vai, Satriani, Gilbert. Those guys are AWESOME/AMAZING players and even THEY can't compare to the genius of EVH. EVH is a once in a lifetime musician. Dime Bag was just another good guitar player.

  • Dime's abilities and innovations with pinch harmonics and the fact that during the 90's he created some of rock's most memorable riffs put him in a special class. You're right he was no EVH but he was far from a dime a dozen, one of the greats forever and you keep that uneducated opinion of yours, R.I.P. Dime

  • Hell, Dime's buried with the black and yellow gtr from the 2nd VH lp cover. Ed put it their himself along with a bunch of bottles of Crown Royal put there by his friends at his wake.

  • Eddie gave his ORIGINAL YELLOW AND BLACK to Dime, you know what he said?He said:Dime was original and only an original deserves the original.

A few months before he was shot he jammed one on one with Eddie, that's how they met, so he was a lot more than just fame.

And what if Dime wasn't as talented as 80's masters; he bursted into the 90s to bring life back into music, to tear his axe apart every single night in an age when people prefered to lisent to pompous bimbos who cannot play a note.

  • Dime may have only been a "good" guitar player, but when you hear Dime you know it's Dime. And there is always something to be said about that.

  • Yeah, that's a good point. It really sucks that some idiot shot and killed him. What a complete and utter waste. So senseless. The world of rock lost a great guitarist and over what? Some fucking lunatic? Ridiculous! Dime should still be rockin' but at least his music will live on. RIP Dimebag. The world of rock isn't the same. Now, on a different note, it is time for the great Eddie Van Halen to release some NEW MUSIC!! Come on! We're READY!!

  • Dime is burried in a kiss "Koffin" with a ton of Booze and the original EVH Gibson Destroyer scene on the VH cover of "Women and Children First".

  • Comment removed

  • I thought it was the black & yellow EVH frankie strat from VH 2 album cover? I might be wrong but that is what I read and friends told me.

  • I might be wrong: it was a news article I read. Eddie was mentioned as being drunk as well and being really rude to Zakk, who also attended. Infact, I read this on KNAC. It's a great metal channel, check it out. I think the old article is still there on the internet.

  • @phrydoom Where was this that Ed was drunk and rude?

  • I believve there is only one frankie strat. It started out white and black and then he painted red over it. He still has it. The blue and yellow guitar is what is burried with dime. Eddie said the blue and yellow always had problems and didn't sound real good, but dime told him it was his favorite.

  • @jjbbuu The guitar them burried with dimebag was yellow and black.

  • yeah and the reissue is getting sound Line 6 play in my living room. : )

  • Agreed: Page, Angus Young...when they play you know who is playing--or ripping them off. EVH was the same, Vai too. It's the genius of the instrument. If God created a better instrument than the guitar, he kept it for himself, IMO.

  • @jklinecarguy Dime was real good. He had some chops

  • the yellow and black guitar was on the cover of 2, not WACF. And yes, eddie buried it with dimebag.

  • totally stupid. I bought 1984 when i came out mf. I know what Im talking about....you, another one that claims you even know what the cover of VH@ looks like, JUST LOOKS LIKE FUCKIN IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • wow, sorry i didnt take the time to write out "back cover". big difference.

    get a life!

  • I think the boys should go back into the studio in 2009 and record all these songs for a new album. Most would be better than any of the crap coming out these days!

  • wat are u talkin bout. they should go in a few months and release one. They'd make it on top. And if they don't. It's probably crap rap music.

  • thanks heaps for putting these great unreleased songs up!

  • 5150EVH5150- you are the GREATEST member of Youtube! Your vids bring back such great memories and I just wanted to say publicly that your contributions here have not gone unnoticed and I for one am extremely grateful! ROCK ON DUDE!

  • Wow you got some photos I've never seen on this clip!! Where can you get these photos? Though this is a great song, I doubt it will make the new record (that's if there is a new album?) I think this version of VH would rather put all new material on an album.

  • At 00:43 you see the Black and Yellow VH2 Charvel. From the picture it looks like he got this guitar on the first tour (standard trem with back neck painted black). I also want a pair of Ed's "W"sneakers...they're badass old skool!

  • Love this song. I dont know that there will be a record. But the way Dave said "this isnt a reunion, it is a new band", makes me think that they have more future plans, and most people will want to see some new songs so i think that they will release a new record if they really are back together for good. I also agree that it may not be till 09-11 before a record comes out because it does take time to record songs just perfectly. Unless they recorded before the tour, it will take time to record.

  • It took them like 9-15 days to record van halen 2 and women and children first

  • Tastey solo

  • The description of this song says it could make it to the new record in 2008. I haven't heard any rumors yet. wondering if whoever posted this song knows anything?

  • This is their most political work I've ever heard... a song about voting machines in the future? Visionaries!

  • It can be either I;ve seen it as both. We Die Bold sounds cooler...

  • its called "we die young" not "we die bold"

  • 5150EVH5150.....great posts brother!

  • Hah! New record in 2008? Dream on. Dont expect a new record until 09'-11' if anything at all.

  • Hey man it could happen.

  • Well, they're still gonna tour until maybe summer 2008. Then they're gonna take a well deserved break for about 2 months or so. Then they'll have to get more material, then recording it would take atleast 4 months (considering DLR's vocal capabilites). Believe me, I want another VH record more then anybody, but when you really break it down theres no way. =VH= forever!

  • I hope so. I hear in the news that Eddie is not doing too well and that VH had to cancel some of there shows. Hopefully Ed is ok and no relapses.

  • whoa wait new record eh? just went to my concert it kicked major ass
