oh what a night after dancing and prancing while phase 11 was playing ,by the stage in front the north stand, i stood and listened while all styars played and i knew it was a winning piece ,its a classic that can be played in classical style for pan festival. it so damm good

I first saw this video in a world music class ten years ago, and I hadn't been able to remember what the festival was called. Thanks for the post, and remember that if humanity can create this it has the ability to solve all problems.

Thanks for posting this. I was there that night and while everyone assumed Phase II would win with their truly great arrngement, they were outgunned on the night by this inspired performance that no one saw coming. The judges took flack the next day but they got it right and it seems it's the last year they got anything right. And hey, I'm a Despers supporter but fair-minded.

I totally agree with you. I was also there that night and even though I was a Phase 11 fan, I had to conceed after the All Stars performance. As a Barbadian living away from the Caribbean in the mid-west USA, this pan music is trully healing for the soul bringing back many memories of the North Stand. Thanks to the person who post these videos. Caribbean peoples don't know the richness and importance of this type of cultural expression. Seeing Clive Bradley with Despers is a memor

@Joncumber I was in Trinidad for Carnival '86 and was amazed how All-Stars came from nowhere to win. Phase II was unstoppable in the semis, but tripped ever so slightly in the finals, letting All-Stars win.  It was my first and only Carnival, but thank God YouTube has brought me back, and I break out into chills all over again.
