I got one of these literally 10 minutes after uploading my last track! Unbelievable... I own the copyright to ALL my music. It makes me mad that some asshole is doing this.
They did with my picture still of "I Want To" by Cheyenne Kimball! Geez, I was just wanting to show people on another website that song! It's not like there was any other way to put a video on there!
The Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society has claimed copyright to music that I myself composed and performed. Does this mean the are cashing in on my work without my consent or knowledge?
@attovishnu Are you a registered member of the MCPS? Dispute the clain saying it is your own music and then register with the MCPS, I think it cost £50 and you get royalties every time your song is used.
I just got a similar copyright infringement claim against my performance of an organ work by J.S.Bach ... who has been dead for 260 years and whose entire body of work is in the public domain and not encumbered by any mechanical licenses or royalties rights. Sounds to me like this is one of those "ambulance chaser" sorts of organizations who file frivolous lawsuits in order to extort fees from their victims.
Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society is a organization that collects royalty music, and if you use it, you get a notice.Even if you did get permission or credit to the musician, the person is still paying that music.
They can't pull your video because it contains a song. That's infrigment upon first ammendment rights, since it is your own original material at your wedding.

Beware with EMI Music, EMI currently had done copyright claims for the Beatles songs and more EMI songs.
