@TheTNWWrestling I'd definitely put the two games at equal levels. It's just a different kind of rpg. Chrono Trigger is more about exploration and sidequests, but Mother 3 is more about a focused storyline. Both games have close to perfect combat, music, and characters.

Bronson was acting like an asshole because his society had forgotten the social instinct of how it feels when someone very close to you is killed. After they buried Hinawa, people started to realize how bad it was, but they never really could grasp it.

The reason why this music works is because it isn't overblown. It starts out loud and slightly dissonant with that jagged piano chord, but it settles in easy and stays that way for the duration of the song.

It's so perfectly married to the scene that it's impossible not to feel something when this event occurs. The way Bronson presents the news... the cue of the music... Flint's powerful reaction... so insanely well-done.

This song is a truly powerful piece. I truly felt terrible for Flint and even worse for Lucas and Claus. Having to witness losing their mother and seeing their cool, calm dad lose it...Not many RPGs could successfully have their players so emotionally invested early in the game.

I guess that memory is what personally drives to me to love this game, because it hits home and reminds me of some good memories of my mother, as well as a few bad ones. As a result, I suppose I feel a sort of "comfort" from this game. Sorry, I'm rambling, I'm sorry for your loss.
