It sounds very haunting, the eastern flavours of the tune are prominent. I guess this has been played to many a happy wedding or village party throughout the ages.
I just discovered that I'm Hungarian from Transylvania (Szekler) on my mother's side after a lifetime of being told that I was Polish. I connected to this music the second I heard it. :-)
omfg! again with the nationalist BS. as a romanian I must say that I'm bored with both sides of the story. So much nationalist propaganda is used just to prevent people on both sides to settle actual issues rather than crappy territorial disputes. Both countries are in the EU, anybody can go anywhere, just get over it already! It's like watching monkeys fight over a banana. and some say we don't have common ancestry with them! just watch countries fighting over plots of land.
Territorial disputes are extremely exciting, I might say, yet we are here to listen to some wonderful Hungarian music from the region of Transylvania, not release our nationalistic frustrations and start yelling at each other like kindergartners. It's a beautiful region which is inhabited by both Romanians and Hungarians, not to mention the abundance of other European nationalities which call that land their home. I say we should all accept that Transylvania is multicultural, and stop arguing.
My parents got known to each other in beautiful hungary. My mom comes from eastern Germany, the former GDR. My father is italian. They met there, fell in love and married. So my mom was "married out" of the GDR! This was NOT possible for people from western Germany. Only foreigners could "marry someone out" of the GDR. So i was born in western Germany ;-) I visited Hungary some time. I very much would like to see it again. Your music makes me want that ;-)
In 1919 the Romanian queen demanded 3/4 of Hungary at the "peace " talks. She sure got a big "piece". Perhaps the rude , backward Romanian , who commented, should learn to spell. Remember it was a Magyar minister that freed "romania" from communism.
@Viczable As far as I'm concerned, the last time I checked it on a map, Transylvania was in ROMANIA. Also the European Union and the CIA say that Transylvania belongs to Romania, no to Hungary, and when I looked it up on the internet it said that the people from Transylvania are Romanian citizens, not Hungarian.
Henri Clemenceau: "The audaciousness of the Romanians are boundless"
Lloyd George (memoirs, dated 7. Oct. 1929): "The complete documentation, which was given to us by our allies during the Peace Conference was a cheat and untrue."
Benes: "As I have seen the possible dangers, I have started on my own to draft the peace of future in Paris. Almost all what I have done were done by improvising and without bibliography."
@Pluskat78 That's history (beginning of 20th century. Now we're in the 21st century). Show me the map! That's what I need. A map. On the map Transylvania is in Romania. The majority of the population in Transylvania is Romanian, so this shows me that Transylvania=Romanian.
@aranzoltan Well I gotta say that I'm studying Anthropology at a University here in the US. And I gotta tell you that the historians don't accept the Hungarian version of the history. So history and archaeology aren't the enemies of Romania, they're rather the enemies of those Hungarians who falsified their own history.
@Amphilochus Transilvanya=Hungary.Learn history"Mr clever". Ive got a friend who lived in Nagyvárad. And he is a full blooded HUNGARIAN. And he hates Romania, because romanian people killed his family in the past just because of they were Hungarians. And Ive got another friend who lived in Székelyudvarhely. She lives in Hungary now, and she dont wanna go back to Romania. We dont need a map. Our heart is makeing a big country, without borderline. This country is the one thousand year HUNGARY.
First time through the song, I tapped my feet and nodded my head, the next time, I'm up and clapping my hands...headphones, no one hears it but me, I believe my family is used to that by now....absolutely a great song!!!
Köszönöm, Cimbora! Ismét nagyot alkottál örökségünkért (egyébként meg simán csak tetszik) ! Ha látod, üdvözlöm "frissensült" múzeumvezető isnerősünket, Anikót. Isten áldja a kezeidet!

Dear Polish brother, just saw a fabulous Polish dance group in Toronto. Some of their members dance in our Hungarian Kodaly dance group also.
