@GiveMeThatMango He had the great idea of putting a massive aftermarket tachometer down there in his din/ashtray area for some reason. If he was concerned about shift points to that extent he should have gotten a shift light and set it to the engines peak range. Both of them should be wearing seat belts. Not street racing would be smart as well but whatever, it happens. good video none the less

Those cars are not similar in weight btw. Alot of variables are going into that rx7 losing. They weigh ~2700 lbs without the driver and that cage, most likely tuned with the stock turbo. This is common and the car needs a bigger turbo and more boost. It's super clean though. On the other hand the civic cant weigh anymore than ~2500 lbs without the driver (depending on trim level). If they do in fact have similar power, do the math. Great race either way. The lack of rice is refreshing

@Karma28217 needs a bigger turbo more boost and at least a street port the stock ports on rotary motors are so restrictive i got a 1992 JDM FD and with a big single turbo and a port job it will a) have better mileage from stock b) have more power.. point is your right but cant forget about the ports in rotary engines

@integman90 port work WILL not give a rotary better mileage. its will get LESS mileage because when a port is enlarged and polished, the fuel doesnt not atomize as well and has a tendency to pool. and more power is not relative to port work to a certain degree.

stock ports are underrated, my street FD makes 450hp on a small 35R at 18psi without auxiliary injection. full boost comes on at 3400rpm

@rotor13 Very true, my TII is street ported which allows more air flow than the stock port yes, but it's only noticable up top (barely) and could easily be made to look pointless by a large enough turbo and stock port setup. I think the only cars that truly benifit the most from porting are mildly built high reving n/a cars. As for turbo models save your porting money for a bigger turbo and better cooling system.

@Karma28217 BUT..... The bigger turbo you go, you WILL NEED to port your rotary because otherwise, you'll be losing out on power because the size of your ports determine how much air you can flow with the turbo.

On small to mid sized turbos, porting isnt going to do much. My FD is tuned very aggressively with regard to timing thanks to the A/I, thats why I make so much power with relatively low boost.
