  • Bella Vendetta!

  • Good! very enjoyable :P

  • Grouchy girl meets greasy, sweaty stalker with a phlegm problem, falls for him based on his use of her first name. Who hasn't had this happen? Very relateable.

  • very clever ending...liked it ;)

  • girl has a nice ass,

the guy has cool looking hair,

    they're both great actors,

creative and clever concept and storyline. 10/10.

  • see? we women love the simple thingsss :D

  • Great job! and well shot too, you should enter it at BIGSTARtv's Online Film Festival, the grand Prize is 50,000!

  • yeah , the girl is also familar 2 me

  • a little slow at points, but a really great film. True to life. Thanks for making it.

  • what? Why did he call her Laura?

  • Well done and quite enjoyable. It's a simple concept, and you didn't try to make too much out of it which is great. Aside from that though, I did have a problem with the sound editing; there were very abrupt fadeouts for your music, that just faded out along with the scene. Try to find a point where your song can easily be edited and clipped together with the end to have a smooth ending. If you don't want to do that, have your music lower so that the fade out isn't so intrusive.

  • Someone please explain to me what's going on. I don't understand the plot.

  • Clever ending, great idea for a film.

  • I would have liked to see the Camera Move a bit ...DIY Dolly..even Hand held and use smooth Cam in FCP to clean up...at least you completed the Film and thats a task within itself...Trying to be quirky doesn't mean its good cinema tho...

    Obolo

  • kinda funny well no really funny but really boring i jus couldnt watch it all

  • That movie is great! I loved the characters, everything! Oh, and the ending is absolutely adorable! Wonderful job!

  • this was really cool, the shot where she is walking along the building is superb! you are an amazing film maker!

  • Great, good job, its good to sees someone make a short n knows what they are doing, ie, story and filming.

  • Thank You

    =)

  • OMG .. LOVE IT ! Made me totally hooked, love the characters and the story line. On and the landscape wide shots were great

    Cheers LOZ

  • The creepiest part might just be his shaved legs.

  • Thats like the gayest thing since spandex, Lmao great job!

  • Wow that was very well done! Loved it!

  • man this was incredible. i just loved " you just called me laura'"*smiles*.. it just communicates so much in that sentence. good work

  • that is such a creepy movie. good, but creepy :)

I don't know what it is but I hate the word 'sweetheart'

  • Hahaha.

    All good.

  • the girl looks very familiar... actually think i know where i've seen her.. hehe

  • well done film though

  • thank you

  • oh yeh? probably on stage?

  • the ending was pretty sweet.

  • Good transformation in character. Really really good!

  • Incredible Short Film Mr. Bostock

  • I liked it :) 'Two uppermarket beers.. This could be a test'

    Made me laugh xD

D'aww this was really worth watching. Ty Lewis.

  • Thanks so much Cameron, glad you enjoyed it!

  • Well done :)

That was such a sweet story.

Well done to all involved in this film; I watched it and it made me feel better :)

  • Aww, Thank You so much!

  • Started off really well but died in production value half way through. Kept me in though so still thumbs up!

  • I like the ending song :)

  • Sat down, got coffee, hit play and waited to be impressed. Drank coffee and kept waiting to be blown away. No luck. I feel sorry for the script writers Rose and Lewis. I'm sure in the process of visualising this piece they didn't plan for it to be so poorly acted. This is a good example of characters not being fully realised due to the actors being 2 aware of themselves and not the roles their playing. Visually though the locations were well chosen.

  • they had 48 hours to make it man, give them a break.

  • This wasn't for 48 Hours...

  • rofl i take that back, i think the commenting system is broken

  • I liked this. Nicely directed, acting was adequate and the dialogue was tight. I thought the ending needed a little work though, to increase the impact. Perhaps cutting the very last line and bringing the music up and muting the both of them continuing to talk to each other. Nice work though.

  • I think the last line was kind of the point?

  • Yes I agree. I just think sometimes a subtly made point can have a bigger impact. It's just my personal taste. Purely subjective. Otherwise I really liked it.

  • That was very well done, nicely used techniques. It deserves every view it has.

  • Strange, in a good way. +++

  • BUT the movies preety good

  • how the hell does a car geet stuck on a sidewalk? explain

  • not that bad

  • very good film 10/10

  • enjoyable and very talented, well done

  • good short film :)

  • good movie I really liked it.

  • they blow up shit!

    blow up shit?

  • how the fuck would u get stuck on a side walk.

  • .. it takes some real tallent, but it can be done..

As for laura being stuck on the curb, its was obviously just for the video.

  • hey, i liked this, really well done, an i giva fuck less wut other say about kiwis, yer cool wid me, nice camera work an acting, ya got some tallent there ya best let not go unnoticed

  • Thanks for your encouragement, I really appreciate it.

  • That was pretty good. So all she wanted was o be refferred to her by her name, not as beutiful. Cool.

  • Yeap -- you hit the nail on the head!

  • I enjoyed this a lot!

I loved the dialogue and the actors played their parts really well..I also liked how it wasn't cliche..they just seemed like typical kiwis :)

  • Thank You for your kind words!

  • Thanks :) Yeah it was fantastic to work with Geoff, briefly met Paul, can't wait to see his film next year about a man and his duck :P

But as with this film...nicely toned, a great little character piece

  • As you said, Much Appreciated

    =)

  • I find it quite hard actually to find The Quiet Earth on DVD here in NZ, strangely enough. Geoff Murphy by the way is a fantastic guy, worked with him on a film through the Film School here in NZ where he personally came in and directed a film for us so we could learn the roles around directing, really a great guy for doing it.

  • Great opp. to work with Geoff Murphy, quite a talented family, his son is a brilliant director. All the best for Retribution. I'll keep it as a vid response to Hey Beautiful, hoping you get some more exposure. Good Work. I guess that's why I joined You Tube to network with other filmmakers!

  • Most libraries still have it;on VCR.

    [Bruno Lawrence was bloody terrific]

  • Brilliant Video Superb

  • Thank You!

  • You got Featured!

    Congrats Lewy!

    =)

  • Cheers dude

  • Great stuff.

    NZ rocks.

  • NZ & NZ FILM FTW!

  • When I read your comment, it occured to me that my favorite movie of all time, ever, is an NZ film. (The Quiet Earth).

    :)

  • Great Choice =)

  • Melbourne3099

I have it in a playlist

imaginatively titled FILM : The Quiet Earth.

  • Congratulations Lewis Bostock. Nice work, Nice 'KIWI' flavour. Lots of subtlety and understatement. 5 stars.

  • Thanks for the high rating, subtlety and understatement was what we were going for, awesome that people are picking up on it.

  • That was so awesome!

  • Pay me my child support you bastard

  • My fAvorite part was the 1,2,3 part. Haha. you know 3? The one that comes after 2 and before 4?

  • kinda sounds like he says after 2 and before 5 lol

  • ka pai lewis!

  • Kia Ora.

  • that was excellent 5/5. but i didnt understand the point of the last line.

  • Thank You. Basically, he calls her by her first name instead of Beautiful, he starts to treat her as a person instead of a stereotype.

  • ohh ohh! i understand now... thanks for such a quick response!

  • No problem. And Thank You for subscribing! I appreciate it!

  • film analysis for the win!

  • u in pre prep for another film?

  • I'm directing a shorter short from a screenplay by Rose Rees Owen. The writer of Hey Beautiful.

  • im waiting for this to load, and it sure is fun cus im speaking with the director

    woot woot

  • Thank You for watching regardless of dial up. And was good to talk to you on Skype finally. Sorry about all the crazies.

  • lol the crazies were funny, and i really enjoyed the film, it was worth the wait :D

  • Haha, I love the irony of the film lecture along with the actual shot-reverse-shot of the male point of view.

Oh gosh and I love this Top Gun dialogue. The first time I saw it, I immediately thought "Where is all this homosexual tension coming from?"

Very well done! A nice snapshot of an everyday encounter.

  • Yeah, the lecture scene gets different responses, people don't like the self reflexivity and others think its clever. Awell. Can't please everyone.

Top Gun is a great watch, if our conscious of the subtext or not.

    =)

  • Great work cuz had to come and check it out on you tube as well..lol.

  • Awesome. Thanks so much. Where did you check it out before?

  • Great work Mr. Bostock, Ms. Rees-Owen, cast etc. I expect big things in the future. Hopefully with explosions :P

  • Hahaha. Thanks Bradley. We're working on another project called Maui. Think Maui and the Sun with explosions by your request.

  • Ha. That was brilliant.

    And epically true. :]

    Nice work.

  • Thanks so much Aanya, And Thanks for subscribing!

  • w00t

  • wohoo good stuff lewis! and rose!

you've shown it can be done. your film is an inspiration to us all. keep em coming.

i must say that song by mr ethan waters does sound a bit familiar...

  • Thanks Marc. I hope Rose sees your msg too.

Yeah... I wonder where we got that song from... No idea where...

    Morrinsville ftw.

    Im from Morrinsville!

  • woops, I'm from Morrinsville, not TT.

  • "Yeah I've got this infection that comes and goes" hahaha best line... but still, the lead guy totally creeps me out!!

Other than that it was a really nice short film :) great job!

  • Thanks Wizard, I'll tell Len that, he'll laugh. A lot of people have commented on that line!

  • Lol hope he doesnt think i'm mean for saying I thought his character was a creeper lol

  • He'll probably come gunning for you.

  • :-O

  • thank you son that was awesome, it's great to feel warm and fuzzy with all the doom and gloom around. loved the romantic comedy. very proud of you and i'm not just saying that because i'm your mother!

  • Thank You Mumsy, and thanks for advertising it to non-You Tube people, it'll help it get some more hits.

  • Awesome... love the new credits, hehe.

  • Thanks Dude!

  • Good ol Owen G. I think I shall keep you as my friend because someday you're going to be a useful contact. Plus you blow everyone else on YT out of the water. For sure. I'm submitting this to the editors!

    Oh and nice cameo!

  • Thanks Tenani, I know we've been talking about on Skype but I thought I would Thank You publicly. I hope the editors feel the same way.

Ooh that cameo - the only reason why I ended up in it was because we ran out of extras, ironically I ended doing a Hitchcock thing in front of a Hitchcock still. Sigh. But people seem to see the gag in it.

  • That's pretty darn awesome. I was just in Owen G. Glenn today. It'strange seeing films with shots of familiar locations. The script was well written. I loved the ending. Five stars.

  • The Owen G. Glenn building annoys me because they wouldn't let us film inside! Never mind. I'm happy regardless because our art director did sucha good job. What were you doing in the Glen, did you have a film lecture?

  • I sure did. Two hours. I almost fell asleep. That's definitely uncool of the OGG people not to let you film. You should have turned all frustrated artist on their asses.

  • Yeah. The management there is pretty strict. We had to prove we had insurance. Awell. Thats over now. What year are you in at University? And what courses are you doing?

  • Yeah. They're uncool. I should've been like 'your cramping my artistic integrity'.

  • when i grow up. i want to be just like you lewis. only it's not possible to be as amazing awesome and cool as you are... but i can try.

  • when i was your age simon, i was nowhere near as cool as you, i certainly wasnt as prolific as you, you pump at films faster than you can say you tube.

  • great story / film

  • Thanks Sam. And Thank You for subscribing to my channel too.

  • no problem, id expect a sub aswell :P

  • Vimeo is da s**t ...

  • Hell Yea. Just posted a comment on your main channel by the way -

  • Good work dude :P Just remember to de-interlase your videos before uploading them to youtube to avoid the lines when you get lots of movement on the screen :-) (eg. between 1:35-37)

  • Yeap. We're gonna export another version of the film, deinterlased, especially for the dvd, plus we'll upload a high res version to Vimeo. Because I love Vimeo. And thanks for the comment!

  • That, sir, was INCREDIBLE! It locked my attention from the very beginning. amazing job. =D

  • Dude!

    That was AHSUM!

    Man...

    you are GOOD.

And if that was your campus in the film class scene, I'm very much jealous..

  • I love waking up to nice comments. Thanks dude!

Unfortunately that isn't our campus in the film class scene, they wouldn't let us shoot on campus, so we had to design the film class!

  • aww that was so true to a lot of kiwi blocks haha well done!

  • Thanks Patrick, yeah our male lead was awesome to work with, he really got into character!

  • Feature thissssssssssssssssssssssssssss

    Haha awesome job, Lewis!!
