You have a problem with a 45. How do you keep your safety? I keep mine on half cock the side safety is to hard to check. You simply go to full cock and pull the trigger. You cannot apply the safety with the weapon on half cock.
I would like to see that demonstration re-done in a setting that would be more like an actual home. Bolt the safe into a wall and anchor it to the floor then they can't use their body mass to aide the prying. that alone makes the safe from the video much more secure.

What you missed as far as important protection is a damn good dog. Good dogs not only will be a fighter on your team in trained well, but can also give you ample time before they are able to break in. Even if people are quite and sneaky as they enter, it is much easier for a dog to tell when invaders are coming.
This could be the difference needed in getting the rifle that you need. German sheppards are good dogs as they are tough and easy to train.
