Use to hear this exact sound last friday of every month at 11 A.M. in Sacramento, CA.

Civil defense test. This was during the Cold War. Mather AFB use to be on 24 hour alert with B-52's ready to go. Use to scare the crap out of my younger sister, telling her that the sirens meant we were going to be incinerated by a nuclear bomb.
