This was sampled for so many songs in hip hop! Shyne used it for 'More Or Less.', Lil' Wayne used it for 'P.M.W.' and Outkast used it for 'Jazzy Belle'. And there's probably a few others! #Classic
@TheBlasianChris No my friend, you are only right about shyne. Waynes pmw samples outkast' jazzy belle. Those two songs you mentioned dont sample this.
like dude said the whole album is a smash!! and im sure that when it came out nobody was really checkin for it...So you see for all the haters hip hop does open up the minds and ears of the masses... sometimes in order to sell stuff you need to package it.. Sure older folks know this catt and his legacy but the younger ones are just discovering him..Besides the music is dope!!! Nothing like having the records....
Yezzzir, yeah on that gangsta blac cd from 96. i used to rewind it to this sample that dj paul used for the intro to one of the songs on that cd manne.
The entire Black Bach album was awesome and one of the best lps of the 70's. Dozier had moderate success during the 1980's including Working On You and Lamont.
@GittinNGiven Suck my dick you little hairy cunt with your shitty hip hop, without these type of songs, your illiterate hip hop wouldn't even exist you ignorant, because a lot of hip hop songs samples soul music like this
@MrEthanthomas I am with you. Hip-hip "artists" are amateurish quacks in the music industry. Their music touches upon nothing soulful, sacred, or deeply transformative or transformational in human folklore. It is a oneway message that worships misogyny and money. Yeah, some art form is hip-hop!
@ldonhawk That's because you only hear what's on the radio and television. That's the part of hip-hop that sells. Pete Rock - T.R.O.Y. go listen to that and tell me that isn't art at it's finest. I understand where you maybe coming from but that song in itself is soulful, sacred, and in no way promotes misogyny or money. And that is REAL Hip-hop. You see, these new artists have gone away from the actual ART of hip-hop because that doesn't sell like it used to because what sells is sex and money
@ldonhawk thats the most supid shit ive heard. i agree on some hiphop artists like "Little wayne" and other new stupid materialistic hiphop. but old, 90s hiphop had emotion soul and passion. wasnt about the money sex or drugs it was about sharing your mind to the world in a rytmic art.
Guitars, flutes, violins, etc. A very well-arranged soul opus. I LOVE the way the song's rhythm and pace constantly changes as it takes you through to the end. I also like the way the chorus is flamboyantly sung (that over-the-top, soulful, gospel sound). Real instruments. No sampling. The strings alone are enjoyable. Lamont's vocal delivery is good too. I hope this album ends up on cd. "Like a butterfly takes to the sky, gone."
FACTOID: Lamont Dozier has NEVER been to Memphis to perform live!!!! amazing but true....everybody has been here except him....crazy
