  • HELPING ME WITH THE STILL

  • i'm forced to watch this to learn how to speak in a southern accent for drama class :/

  • @cutie3piexoxo "forced"? thats not fun...besides.. Gone With The Wind is more accurate accents. The ones here are white trash accents...(unless thats that Southern accent you need to learn)

  • @MPL029 haha yes, i have to learn white trash accents. my name in the play is JoJo Bob Bob White :D

  • @cutie3piexoxo Whats the play called?

  • @MPL029 it's a play that the advanced drama students wrote themselves. actually it's more of a murder mystery

  • This movie is interesting even know I'm new school and that's really really an old school movie,I like it though

  • red neck fresh prince of bell air

  • "Grannie, I aint gonna leave you here."

"And I ain't a budgin' out of this rocker."

*Shows Grannie's chair in car w/ her still sitting in it*

  • Smog= Small hog

    xD

  • I love the beverly hillbillies and im a hillbillie too!

  • Comment removed

  • Why doesn't it play the original theme song?

  • @sunshine45986 i believe it is a licensing thing. flatts and scruggs or whoever owns the rights probably more money than the company buying the show rights deemed worth the price

  • Smog is a small hog! LOL!

  • thanx for uploading this means alot we need ot keep this show going i only hope my kids will no how great of a show this is

  • 25-100 million dollars??? That was an obscene amount of money back then! Actually...it still is!

  • This is one of those sitcoms, that all the new sitcom's copy off of now because they can't think of any more new ideas or jokes...

  • @MrMagicsNoveltyEnt lol they copied a whole new sitcom from the hillbillies. it was called 3rd rock from the sun. great show but many similar fish out of water plots

  • Granny, Jed, Jethro, Ellie Mae, who was your favorite? ALL for me. LOL

    Maybe the best sitcom ever!

  • @1teacherspit Miss Jane

  • Charles, carloine and laura ingles move to beverly hills

  • we're doing this play in drama, and I can't stop laughing haha

  • @SimplyJonas2009 i am too. im gram xDD

  • thankx so much for uploading this.. i used to watch the re-runs with my mom when i was little and now i can watch it here

  • copyright is for 2-28 year terms, then it public domain, so nobody had to redo the theme music on this at all (total copyright term is 56 years, so some are free to the public now)

  • Uprated. Actually, it WAS a prison! Nancy Kulp, RIP was so great in this. Oh, well, they all were. Ebsen would have been in The Wizard of Oz but that silver paint made him sick, if I remember correctly. Fine song and dance man and good actor.

  • @13:05 Did he just say, "Living in the same neck of the woods as Tom Hanks?"

  • @pipkguitar tom mix old silent film star

  • how sad...

  • honestly I can sorta understand why jed WOULDNT wanna leave even with the money.... he enjoys the simple life. even when they moved they still had the stil lye soap and critters running about

  • i love it

  • I used to like the way uncle Jed said: Oooooh doggies.

And Jethro would say: HOT DOG !!

.... gem show of another era.

  • In case you didn't know, the good-looking young man named "Jeff Taylor" who appears in Mr. Drysdale's first scene is Robert Osborne from TCM!

  • Drysdale was played magnifcently!!

  • 4:54...that guy that Elly May caught is hot! I don't get why they pair Elly with all these ugly or average men later on in the episodes. This guy is better looking!

  • CLASSIC TV,TYVM 4 POSTING THESE,GOD BE WITH YOU,& EVERY1.

  • A piece of cultural Americana. Thanks Ian, such a timeless piece of comedy.

I like the gasps from the audience when the camera panned out from the cabin.

  • my neighbours i swear!!!

  • Classic show.

I could watch this episode over and over.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I believe everything I read on Wikipedia. In fact, sometimes I hear something and don't believe it. So I add it to a Wikipedia article. Then I can read it there and believe it.

  • This Is what tv programs is all about.

You can't get any better than this

  • anyone notice a very young future TCM host Robert Osborne as Taylor , one of Drysdales assistants , look at the 20:58 mark ,he has a few lines and wow how young and handsome .. he was 30 in 1962

  • This one of my all time favorites vintage comedy I watched all of the episodes. Beverly Hillbillies over and over again for the past over 30 yrs Its bring back wonderful memories by the way I am a Hillbilly myself Thanks for posting this video!

  • ha-ha its so cheesy

  • "This wouldn't happen if you'd stay in the house where you belong!"

  • Watching the first episode of HBs makes me laugh a lot ,its lot better then todays comic sitcoms.

  • Thanks for the upload i totally become a fan of the series.

  • The first episode is still one of my favorites!

  • The firrst episode is still one of my favorites!

  • At least for the first two seasons, the best social satire on TV. Ebsen and Ryan certainly knew how to nail their lines for comic effect.

Ryan (on the type of dollars used to pay for the swamp): "Million."

Ebsen: "Yeah. A man'd be a danged fool to leave all this."

Paul Henning --one of the best TV comedy writers ever.

"Joke's on him. That swamp has no wildcats."

  • still better then anything new

  • good old discrimination "how could a bunch of hillbillies afford this?"

  • Weeeeeeeel doggies...

  • The reason why they replace the music is to avoid playing a fee on it copyright.

  • The reason why they replace the music is to avoid playing a fee on it copyright,

  • I was 2 weeks old when this first aired

  • I've seen them all, but not this one, Excellent, ty. Good clean fun.

  • Elly sure knew how to wear jeans!

  • Granny is the greatest!!!

  • You know that it's good writing if it's still funny after all these years.

  • LOL I love this show They make fun of wankers lol i wish it was in color though

  • Classic.

Funny stuff still after all these years.

  • Jethro looks like Bill Clinton when he says, "I dunno, I didn't take it!" Bwahaha!

  • this is my shit have all the dvds and watch them all the time... love me sum granny... got my family and friends into it too. loved this show

  • wheee - doggies!!!

  • thats weird. i have a dvd with several beverly hillbillies eps on it w/ the original startup and ending musics and such.

  • The first season is definitely the funniest

  • i have this episode on tape im glad to see it in good quality finally

  • you know granny, that's one of those fields up in the air (wink wink) lol

  • Ah, the days of innocent comedy. The beauty of all of this is that "reality" is not emphasized as it is today. Yes, the driving looks "fake", but reality and sophistication are not necessary to entertain me. Back in the day, television programs were an "escape" and reflected the "ideal". Unfortunately, that element is gone from TV forever, and sitting down to watch TV has become nothing more than a continuous experience with reality. Silliness and clean humor can be so refreshing.

  • so old

  • What's this "Op-Ezy" business ?

  • I'm over 50 and have NEVER seen the pilot episode! Thanks! *Wipes tear from eye

  • Ah, those were the days! Watched the BH during the original run and never missed an episode. While the cast was good, I loved Buddy Ebsen and Irene Ryan, followed closely by Nancy Culp. You could sit down with your family and enjoy the antics and not have to worry about inappropriate content. Thanks for sharing this clip on YOU TUBE.

  • Look at how fake the driving looks.

Jethro is supposedly going straight but he keeps on turning the wheel. If you do that in real life the car would swerve like mad and even make a donut(and you'd end up looking drunk and foolish)

  • you must never drive a car with a worn out front end. Slack galore

  • Look at how fake everything is on TV today...oh, except the special effects! Too busy looking at the fool's-gold clumps to notice that it's actually dogshit inside when ya went to bite it! AHhaha...but how would that happen? Some trickster wanting to make trouble, obviously...hmm...could it be the MSM?!

  • You must be a young un. I have driven a couple of cars where you had to do that to keep them going straight.

  • Yeah i'm young, just recently turned 16.

You're right, i've not driven a car yet(per-se) but i have driven other vehicals where i had to do that to keep them going straight. Just made myself look foolish i see, heh heh sorry guys.

  • 45 years ago...wow how time flys...have not seen this pilot in years..thanks again for posting!

  • made my day! many thanks.

  • No, this video isn't long at all... only 25 minutes.

  • I met Donna Douglas at a hotel in Tulsa in approx. 1996. She was so sweet . . . very soft-spoken and kind. She was wearing a ruffly pink shirt and ultra-tight black jeans. Her hair was also very much the way it was when they filmed the BH. I was and am still amazed!

  • lol. loving it

  • the good ol days; i remember em too

  • Man i remember this episode when it first aired.....holy crap!

Thanks for posting.....surely some great memories there.......

  • I remember back in the late '80's early 90's, I saw a list of the Top 100 sitcom episodes, and the Hillbillies held 18 of them. Always loved this show. "It ain't her shoulders thats poppin' these buttons." "She aughta be doin womens work.....heppin' me with the still." LOL

  • You can see all the first few seasons of the Beverely Hillsbilly on liketelevision dot com.

  • If you want to see these episodes with the original music, then that is the site to go to. Great find!!!

  • why does this always skip on any video i look at no matter what it is

  • i love the part when pearl asks jethro why there isnt any snow in Californa!lol

  • Great episodes,Thanks.

  • lo0o0o0o0o0ol hehehehehe

  • Thanks, great show! What's the story with the theme tune though? Why are there 2?

  • Hey, ianhawdon

The Beverly Hillbillies is not in Public domain, nothing about is in "public domain" including the music.

  • from Wikipedia:

The first two seasons of the series are in the public domain (their copyrights having not been renewed by CBS, which bought the rights to the series shortly after its cancellation).

  • Hey, ianhawdon

The Beverly Hillbillies is not in Public domain, nothing about is in "public domain" including the music.

  • ianhawdon: Thanx much for postin' this great TV show, brings back memories of back home(Utah)!

  • Living in the same neck of the woods as Tom Mix...ohhhhh this is funny

  • good times!! one of the best shows *that there* ever was on!!

    '-)

  • Fantastic to find these here. I was in Second Grade when this episode aired. Thanks for the memories!

  • I'm 32 and my mother told me about this show since I was a little girl...I've watched a lot of episodes but not this one. I just showed it to my own children...my 12 yr old liked it!! Thanks for posting!

  • Tell Op-Ezy Intl. to put the original theme music by Flatt & Scruggs back into the opening and closing credits!

Other than that--thanks for posting this!

I never did see these earliest episodes.

  • I don't have access to the original copies with the original music, i could dub the original music on top, but it wouldn't sound that good. I just recorded these off a low powered Satilite TV station (Bonanza)

I think you can buy the original themed version off amazon quite cheaply :-)

  • Thanks Ian!

For the record, the DVD releases of "Happy Days" have much of the original source music stripped out of them! Some of the original recordings have been replaced by re-recordings by studio groups who are not on any record label! So I guess the Publishers and writers get THEIR statutory payment...and to hell with the REAL artists.
