  • @fandra From what I can gather...

Probably Pan Pastel Powder. Generals Charcoal and Chalk for the while, some softening brushes, and I don't think I saw him use a kneaded eraser. I think that's a perfection eraser tool which is like a typewriter eraser, but from far away it looks like the generals chalk pencil so I dunno. A bar and a pair of binoculars to see the details in the eyes, and some kind of toned paper :)

Lovely, planning to get there with practice.

  • please, can You tell me all the materials you used?

  • Brutal!

  • You did that in an hour and a half.... how about i just give up art lol

  • Materials?

  • can anybody tell me what david is holding up to his eyes every now and then? my guess was something to obscure what he is seeing to help simplify shapes but im not sure :)

  • wonder if he uses somekind of fixative after the drawing is done

  • @twistedtree01 I doubt it. Most fixatives will destroy the white chalk in drawings.

  • Amazing!

  • i wanna draw like you some day xD

  • Global A Go Go, Joe Strummer. :)

  • somebody know the name of the song??

  • @rzoreda it's "Global a Go-Go " by Joe strummer & the Mescaleros.

  • hey david, what is that tool you use to begin the portrait?? Is it charcoal. what materials did you use? Pleas let me know!

  • I am very interested in the wash-like medium he uses initially to lay out those broad strokes. Is that some kind of soluble graphite? It seems to dry quickly and hold up well with the charcoal and chalk drawn on top of it.

  • @stinky472 I'm pretty sure they are the pan pastels that are applied with tools like a woman would use to apply maekup

  • @ymihere1965

Read the credits, charcoal and white chalk on toned paper.
