I still got it to this day. Of course I was lucky enough to get the special edition. Right now I'm searching YouTube on where downloads of SM3000 & 4000.
This game is still one of the best in the lineup to be honest. I wish they would rerelease a remastered edition without taking away the original charm.
I used to have this game, and I absolutely loved it. It was my favourite game for a long time. Unfortunately, I lost it when my computer had to get rebooted.

I really think that that was the #1 goal that Maxis had, for all the Simcity titles. Let me tell you, when I got 3000, I had to wait 2 years before I could play it much. Now I have simcity 4, and on my brand new computer that I play FLIGHT SIMULATOR X on, (with medium-high graphics!) the 5-year-old game still sometimes has performance issues with large cities!!
If there's ever another "true" sequel, you'll need a supercomputer...
@Yonkage Sim City 4 is odd in it's needs, my modern quad core with an 8800GTX does not run it very well at all but my 2.4ghz K7 with a 6800GT runs it flawlessly with all settings at max.
There is just something about newer architecture that does not agree with sim city 4, not to mention it can only use one processor anyway.
You can also take pre-built city or your own and play them in sim copter. :)

The formula was definitely perfected in this version IMO. Plus it had a good dose of humour.

SimCity 2000 takes city planning to a new level of realism that pushes the limits of the day before yesterday's high powered computers.

This looks like it must have run on video kiosks in computer software stores rather than on actual television, right?

I agree but the latest fully 3D fledged simcity games dont impress me. The classics can never replaced. (including simcity 4)
