Even if you don't compare this to the series it still sucks as a movie itself. The plot has been done to the death, the dialog is horrible, no character development, atrocious acting(except Chow who imo is the only one remotely acted like the character), special effects are shitty(Shenron looks like a worm), the list goes on. I don't know why on earth I watched it in the first place.

I'm thinking about renting this movie. I really don't expect it to be good at all, which is the reason I didn't bother seeing it in theaters and poking my eyes out like Oedipus. But if it is considered a comedy, I guess that would make some sense considering that the show was very funny as well as action packed. A Dragonball comedy would be more acceptable than a Batman comedy, of course my expectations are set pretty low already.

yes Goku does not look white and yes he is a saiyan. Saiyans have black hair, dark eyes and light skins color. Asian also have black hair, dark eyes and light skin color. Plus if you watch the movie again, the baby that was shown in the movie was asian. but overall the movie was crap. A Krillin appearance would have been nice. Roshi's pervertedness was right, but they coulda thrown in the whole Turtle shell. How hard is it to make a pig talk? This is a very good movie. I've ben a big fan of the whole series of Db, DBZ and a bit of DBGT(not that good though). This movie is a complete disaster if you actually think of it as another Dragon Ball movie. It's a completely different plot, so I don't see the reason why people think of this movie to be so horrible. This is just another Hollywood movie just like many of the superhero movies. Just don't consider it a DragonBall movie, and enjoy it! It's really great!

I mwas watching the previews for a movie earlier this year and the prview was for Dragonball Evolution and I was super-excited and then I saw the rest of the preview and I was like, no this is horrible. Then I say the movie trailers and I could not go and see this. Bad, bad, bad. Maybe I'm a Dragonball purist, but in my opinion you can't make a movie that is updated and hip, it's either dragonball or it's not dragonball and I don't think that this was dragonball.

This movie is ass for too many reasons to list. Shouldn't Goku still be a kid in this part of the DB timeline? And what's with the subtitle "Evolution"? Goku doesn't even turn into a giant ape.
And in actuality, he doesn't turn into a "giant" ape in the movie; he turns into an ape something thing. It's as cheesy at Liu Kang's dragon transformation in Mortal Kombat Annihilation. Overall, I guess this is where the "evolution" part comes in. Dumb, and certainly unremarkable.

Even if you don't compare this to the series it still sucks as a movie itself. The plot has been done to the death, the dialog is horrible, no character development, atrocious acting(except Chow who imo is the only one remotely acted like the character), special effects are shitty(Shenron looks like a worm), the list goes on. I don't know why on earth I watched it in the first place.

Look There is not a single animation of Dragonball that I've not seen including the specials and the movies (animations). But as soon as I seen the trailer for Dragonball Evolution I vowed I would not watch it ever. I have all the single Dragonball episodes ever released from meeting Bulma to beating the evil Shenron's in GT. Im a hardcore fan and Dragonball evolution is just big big disgrace.

i have been waiting ever to see a live action dragonball movie ever since their were rumors bout it happening roughly 5 years ago. (going on trailers and what i can bear to watch) i am a huge fan of the dargonball(anime and manga) and this movie was theworst peice of shit that i have ever had the opertunity to even hear about. the director and the person who wrote the script, designed ,etc . i think they should all be banned from making any movies. my rating is 0 out of 1,000,000,000

Now I know why I didnt go to the movies to see it. This movie sucks beyond any belief. I am so disappointed they even made it. I hope Japan watches this, vomits, then decides to make a real DBZ just like they did with Godzilla cuz America messed that movie up to. I went to rent this garbage in Blockbuster and you would not believe that the day it came to dvd, there were only 2 copies on the shelf. Thats it. And it was a new release. What does that tell you??

I'm thinking about renting this movie. I really don't expect it to be good at all, which is the reason I didn't bother seeing it in theaters and poking my eyes out like Oedipus. But if it is considered a comedy, I guess that would make some sense considering that the show was very funny as well as action packed. A Dragonball comedy would be more acceptable than a Batman comedy, of course my expectations are set pretty low already.

yes Goku does not look white and yes he is a saiyan. Saiyans have black hair, dark eyes and light skins color. Asian also have black hair, dark eyes and light skin color. Plus if you watch the movie again, the baby that was shown in the movie was asian. but overall the movie was crap. James Wong vision was stupid and the fight scene only lasted for 2 seconds when it should have lasted for an hour. I hope they don't make a second one.

A Krillin appearance would have been nice. Roshi's pervertedness was right, but they coulda thrown in the whole Turtle shell. How hard is it to make a pig talk? (Oolong) and who can't make a cat fly and talk in a high-pitched voice? (Puar) oh yeah and Demon King Piccolo was only missing the intenna things, otherwise, good... My point is... This is a very good movie. I've ben a big fan of the whole series of Db, DBZ and a bit of DBGT(not that good though). This movie is a complete disaster if you actually think of it as another Dragon Ball movie. It's a completely different plot, so I don't see the reason why people think of this movie to be so horrible. This is just another Hollywood movie just like many of the superhero movies. Just don't consider it a DragonBall movie, and enjoy it! It's really great!

I mwas watching the previews for a movie earlier this year and the prview was for Dragonball Evolution and I was super-excited and then I saw the rest of the preview and I was like, no this is horrible. Then I say the movie trailers and I could not go and see this. Bad, bad, bad. Maybe I'm a Dragonball purist, but in my opinion you can't make a movie that is updated and hip, it's either dragonball or it's not dragonball and I don't think that this was dragonball.

I could ramble for hours why this movie is bad on the characters and it's connection to dragon ball alone, but I will go with this approach.
The story was bad, the acting was bad, the effects were bad, the fact many mistook it for a comedy is sad.
Theres also giant plot holes, somethings were never told or addressed.
Oh and lets not forget that CGI monkey. Or that 12 second final fight.
