what a dam shame..there is older film footage of the wixom plant as they made the early 1960's t-birds ...it is on youtube and worth watching..i am a proud owner of a 1990 grand marquis.that also survived a garage fire..the grand marquis / crown vic's are the last of their kind..a full size , rear wheel drive american road cruiser ...i know i will never buy any japanese car ..i will always buy american and my choice is ford products ...long live ford
Great Video!!! The wixom plant is 4.7 million square feet almost exactly twice the size as the St. Thomas plant at 2,600,000 sq ft . Unfortunate to see the plant like that. The Ford plant in St. Thomas holds the same fate and will be closed for good next year. This was a nice tribute to the plant and also the over Six Million cars that were produced there.
Nope, not building the trucks there. I live a mile down from this place and these trucks were dropped off last week. The number of trucks have been doubled since this footage was taken. They are holding the 2011 f150's back, giving dealers time to sell the 2010s. Its a shame, that a plant of its size is closed, A energy plant was supposed to open there this past summer, then they pushed it to fall.....still not open. RIP Wixom Assembly Plant
After 2012 they might use a different plant and the rails will come back to life I hope they do and it might happen
