  • sadly this does not work in Sony Vegas Pro 11 :( But great tutorial

  • hey my premier pro dosent have the HDV things...? any help?!?!?

  • ooo, I see what you did there :>

    nice job :D thx :)

  • good technique, shame it only works for this game

  • Making a video inside of a video!?!? VIDEOCEPTION!!!!!!!!!!

  • minecraft!

  • Is it possible to record in higher fps like u go in fraps and u do 60 but your vid plays in half speed(0,5) do you have 120 fps then and will it be smoother/better quality ??? Please PM we can do some vids together if u want !!!

    Thank you ,

    MrEmptyHd

  • @MrEmptyHD look up aprogram called dxtory (:

  • Do u know how i can record my voici in Premiere ?

  • @EliasVanKerckhoven20 I use a separate program to record my voice called Audacity. It's free!

  • thanks bro this helped so much i actually used DxTory to record this and it worked the exact same :) if i can leave a video response? il upload the vid now and leave one its up to you thanks for the tut man subbed :D

  • this obviously work with any pc game you want to use?

  • There is an easier way (: You just record at 0,25% of speed and just put it in sony vegas and fast it as much as you can then you right click on the sound track and select stretch smt ahaha :P

  • Recorded with? Sorry for being ignorant if it was in the first part.

  • @maurice96b camtasia, notice the icon at the bottom

  • @GFXZombie Well I obviously didn't notice, thanks tho lol.

  • @maurice96b np :P

  • or you could just use avidemo?

  • signed in and SUBED just for u aha nice vid BRO

  • when i am in premier i go down to my audio cli(the audio part)... it just says volume level and a drop down ... on the drop down i can only choose bypass or level ... the point is i cant see my audio as u can!

  • @rapidMG At the start of the audio track where it says 'Audio 1', 'Audio 2' etc. make sure you click the little triangle to expand it. If you still can't see the actual audio in wave form try zooming in with the bar above the time line (you see me move it at 2:33). What version of Premiere are you using?

  • @gman318 cs4

  • Thanks..!

  • Roderrooder

  • Thank you, i never would have thought of this, your very smart.

  • Damn dude you are a fuckin genious ! :D A Never thought of that easy trick and it made my life much easyer :D Thanks again :D

  • @Cainsgames Appreciated mate :)

  • 62 People won the internet, that cant be right.

  • @Wozerezow There's enough to go round :P

  • MINECRAFT

  • @gman318 i should be able to record any games with fraps while im playing the game at hd quality 1280 by 720 ? then re render with sony vegas with my preset hd setting @ 30 fps

this will reduce fps while gaming right and by how much?

    the pc i built has intel i5 2500k / 4 gb ram / nvidia gtx 550 ti

  • @turkwarrior2 Usually fraps will reduce fps by 10-15. The i5 should be able to handle 1280x720 no problem. Let me know how you get on

  • Omg our a smartyyy

  • Very nice tutorial :D and very useful :)

  • umm gman how do i make a cool player card (not the one on blackops but u know how when u start a video it has the player card and it goes like ddananana and waaever and then it shows ur name like urs is blue)

  • @Play4dafun You mean an intro? You have to make them in a video editing software package like Adobe After Effects. Alternatively people on youtube offer to make them for a small price. If you have After Effects I can recommend videocopilot(dot)net for tutorials.

  • Does the little pause bar thing in theater mode show when ur recording?

  • @sasukekun99 It does if you don't hide it!

  • @gman318 dude im dieing here PLEASE DO A VERSION 4 this in after effects

  • Heyo there, I have a question about this, what would you do for games that are not Black Ops, that do not have a theater mode.

  • @TheSethGrey I usually lock fraps at either 30 or 60fps (depending on the game) and just record as I play. You need a fairly good PC to be able to do this though, unlike this method that can be done even on a lower spec machine :)

Games like CSS and COD4 have a demo recording feature that you can access through the dev console - these can be slowed down just like this if you need to.

  • @gman318

I'd like to think I have a decent computer, most of what I do is a mix of Minecraft, and different FPS and some other assorted games, thanks though, i'll see what I can do with your tips, you sir, have earned this sub. =b

  • @TheSethGrey Cheers mate, let me know how it goes!

  • @TheSethGrey

Well I applied it to the Half Life Play-through on my channel, and it seems purdy seamless.

  • @TheSethGrey Looks good dude, you might want to set your game to 16:9 ratio to fill the youtube player - even if it looks wrong when you play :)

  • @gman318

I have no clue what a 16:9 Ratio is. >,<

  • @TheSethGrey It's widescreen, like the youtube video. 4:9 is a squared vid...

  • @SpGxDarkStylo I think I meant I wasn't sure how to set my game to that ratio in the game it'self.

  • @TheSethGrey Oh :P well thats the ratio ingame, like 1920*1080 is widescreen. 800*800 is not :D

  • @SpGxDarkStylo Ah, thank you i'll try that out on the next few videos I do, once I stop wasting my life on portal 2.

  • @SpGxDarkStylo Alright, thank you mate. =b

  • Hello!

I found a problem... I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 10 and I seriously can't find out how to speed things up to 500%. It will only speed up 400%, that's all. I've been trying to figure something out and the best i got was 0,4x in theater mode, then use 24 fps at FRAPS and speed up with 250% in Sony Vegas... but this get's nowhere near your quality and the sound is horrible...

Once again, thank you for the video. But someone, seriously help me, please! :)

  • Nice vid man, thank you so much, my computer is a pain in the ass right now... FPS-lag and automatic shutdown... I will most definately try this out. Once again, thank you!

  • Any possibility you could help me with a sort of similar case, i am trying to edit using this, yet i want to edit a video i have already cut up into parts from my recent games and made into one video in theater mode, and trying to do this to that video i am unable to slow it down to .2, is there anyway to get around that or do i just have to pull of some more ridiculous stuff and get it cut using fraps instead of the ingame cutting tool?

  • @Nstnct Sorry bud, once you edit it in theatre you lose the ability to change the speed. You're better off just keeping the recordings whole in theatre but only fraps'ing the clips you want. If you still want to use the clips you already have try locking fraps to 30fps and recording - it might still be useable :)

    Hope that helped!

  • Thank's for this :) Gonna pick up Black Ops in a couple of days and wanted to know how it was done on BO 'cause I used to record CoD4 with AVI demo and stuff :D Thank's again man, good tutorial :)

  • @justCrafted Very welcome dude! :)

  • @gman318

btw we all really want some more black ops gameplay please upload some :D much apreciated

  • @MinecraftMcGee Man - I really want to get some gameplay up but University is being a pain in the ass xD Have no fear - I'll have something up shortly!

  • AMAZING YUH SIR HAVE A NEW SUBSCRIBER THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • @MinecraftMcGee ATHANKYOUSIR!

  • Thanks A Bunch man this really helped me alot

  • um wats your steam name so i can add u as frined plz i know it sounds werid lol

  • Great tutorial - thanks. Anyone know of any free apps that will lay the two vids side by side to take the audio from one, and the footage from the other?

  • @drmiller1979 Apparently VirtualDub will do the job.

  • I Subbed dude, cause that was an awesome tutorial well done good sir!

  • @doorfridgemagnet AthankyouSir! :)

  • Quick Tip, before you unlink the first audio, bring the second audio under it and match them up, then delete the chipmunk audio, so now you don't need to tweak it!

  • @XhaleHD Yeah thanks man! I've been doing that since I posted this :P

  • you're a genius!

  • @IKnowMyCBAs Cheers bud ;)

  • hey gman, can i ask you another question. how do i change the speed duration in sony vegas if you know how to ?

  • @FrostyRage220 I've been asked this a few times and I'm still not quite sure - I've never used Vegas but apparently you can use VirtualDub to alter the speed. Sorry I can't be of more help dude :P

  • @gman318 no problem, btw thanks mate :D

  • @FrostyRage220 Right click on your clip and then Insert/remove envelope -> velocity. A green line pops up, drag it under 100% and it will go slowmotion drag it over 100% it will speed up. Make it under 0% it will reverse.

  • hey gman318, i got a problem when i recording, suddenly my fps drop to 1-3 fps. what I could do ?

  • @FrostyRage220 Does the drop occur at a particular time or when you do something specific? Are we talking about recording at 12fps or 60 here? Does the drop occur at the same place when you're not recording?

  • @gman318 sorry, it's about 12fps. the framerate drop occur at some random times and it still happened at a different place whenever i tried to record it again. (sorry for my english)

  • @FrostyRage220 Hmm, if it's still happening at 0.2x speed then I'd suggest turning down/off the ani-aliasing option in the graphics settings :)

  • G-man couple of questions if i May.

how do you get get the hud disabled in 3rd person or camshots or any other than 1st person shots?.

I dont want the nametags above other players heads and I dont want the leftbottom killboard. Actually everything should be off in those scenes.

Do you use CMD'S for that or is there a theater mode mode. lol theater mode mode.

  • @m1ndify No problem dude. You can hide all the hud elements by pressing F4 which gets rid of most things. I've been asked how I hid the radar but left the killfeed, and the answer is simple - this was a hardcore match xD

    Hope that helped!

    -G

  • Thank you so much for this video, I will post my response once it finishes uploading. Subbed and thanks. :D

  • @WoWRawsword You're very welcome mate - looking forward to it!

  • When i record at 15 fps then do x5 it looks fast >,< What do i do?

  • @akhamis98 Hmm, as long as you record at 0.2x speed it should look the same when speeded up to 5x. Are you sure you recorded at 0.2x speed?

The other thing is that recording at 15fps instead of 12fps will give you 75fps footage when speeded up. If you're then rendering it out at 60fps it will be forced to drop some frames...

  • I just won the internet.

  • @MrWiizz Haha good job mate! Cheers ;)

How do you want that delivered?

  • chipmunk battle lmao nice tutorial xD

  • Very nice tutorial man :) sub'd

  • Hey gma318!

I made a fragvid using this method, sent a video reply, please check it out. :)

    Thanks!

  • intro song!!?!?!?

  • Insanly usefull man

    thank you!

  • @dunneylurch You're welcome dude! Post up a response if you get it working :)

  • @gman318 yeah man if i get time i will, keep the vids up!

  • Hey man,this is my pc information:AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor,2.80 Ghz,4,00 GB Ram,Windows 7 OS,512 mb graphics card,32-bits.Can you tell me can i record black ops without lag and smoothly.Thanks!

  • @smackdownlord95 Hey,

Pretty decent specs mate. My only worries would be that you're on 32bit Windows. This means that it won't be able to make full use of your 4GB of RAM + 512MB of graphics RAM. This gives you 4.5GB total of memory, and 32bit Operating Systems can only make use of 4GB.

The other concern is the CPU, but hey...give it a go and see! Be sure to post up a response if it works ;)

  • @gman318 Tnx for the answer,i will be sure to subscribe you!

  • @smackdownlord95 Haha, cheers :D

  • If you render at double NTSC (59.94) instead of 60, will that make much of a difference, if any?

  • @Dietert12 For Youtube, probably not, as they encode to 30fps. You may notice it when playing the file back on your PC if you're a coked up ninja, but otherwise I don't think so :P

  • @gman318 Haha ok, thanks for the quick reply :).

  • @gman318

Do u think i render it in Acobe Premier and then start my editing in vegas.?

And then re-render in same quality?

  • @Phyte040 That sounds like a bad idea tbh dude, you'll be encoding twice meaning that you'll lose quality to compression. Ontop of that, if you're uploading to YouTube, they encode it too, meaning further loss of quality. Try to avoid re-rendering.

If you have After Effects, you can do your editing in there, and then import the project file into Premiere to render it out, meaning that you lose absolutely no quality!

    Hope that helps :)

  • So basically the 800x600 video is just to record audio?

  • @mikeymike93 Yes indeedy, it has to be @ 60fps though, so that the gunshots occur at the right times. I've tried different methods, but that way has worked best for me :)

  • my fraps split's my video files into 3.9GB parts

  • @barlerer Yeah mine does too for longer videos, they don't drop any frames between them though so you can just put them right next to eachother in Premiere.

  • I heard there was technique to record using the devConsole?

  • @playman350 Yeah, I've seen threads on the Steam forums where people have adjusted theater mode to export at 1920x1080. I prefer this method though, as you have control over framerate and compression quality.

  • @gman318

I've tried multiple times getting the in-game renderer working...

tsk tsk, the only two codecs it uses are of horrible quality :(

  • @playman350 Yeah it's poor. Fraps is definitely the way forwards!

  • @gman318

    You are entirely right.

The Fraps codec is a godly evolution in the matter of lossless recording codecs.

I just wish they released it for other programs/recorders to use :/

  • @playman350

    just get fraps!

  • If I don't want audio could I just record the 12fps part. Than fast forward it in a video editing software?

  • @yaitsbilly Yeah that's right! The 60 fps pass is purely there for the audio, but if you don't need it there's no reason to record that too :)

  • very user-friendly tutorial :)

but one question: is it necessairy to record at 2 different FPS types and put them together?

or can you just do it with one file?

  • @zheddie Unfortuately no, the audio when recorded at 0.2x speed is not 0.2x. You need the 60 fps pass to get proper audio :)

  • Awesome, thanks for the tutorial man

  • After you have stretched the 12fps audio by 500% ofc.

  • Line up the 60fps audio with the chipmunk audio. Even though they are higher pitched, the transients occur at the same time as the 60fps audio.

  • @subclonk That's so blindingly obvious...

Why did I not think of this!? xD

You Sir, may have one internet cookie!

  • this is brilliant, nice tutorial mate, i will post a response soon.

  • @TheFireflyRob Thanks! Looking forward to it!
