  • Guys, you're all stupid. Who cares about the diversity? I've been there and it's plenty diver. It's simply a coincidence none were shown. No need to remake the video or anything, it's not racist or something...

  • I feel sorry for SMU graduates. Why? Because I'm one of them. The video is misleading. The only relationship alumnus have with the school is when the school calls them for money. Kids, if you don't know who you are and don't have your future planned out or just need time to discover yourself, smu is NOT the place to do it. Go somewhere else because you will be OUTCAST.

  • @USAFMadMachine Hmm, what do you mean by that? As in being an outcast because your future isn't planned out?

  • FTW

  • Fast forward to the death penalty

  • SSSMMMMMMUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Glad to see Harriet Miers being laughed out of the Supreme Court hasn't dented this place's reputation... right?

  • at least they didn't include the same one black guy in every shot like SOME universities i know of.

  • I am a Black female who attends SMU. If any student of color needs a mentor or has any questions about diversity, just send me an email

  • We have a similar tradition at my high school where we don't step on a seal of our mascot and if someone does, seniors take it on themselves to dump the person into the nearest trash can =p

And I too thought the absence of minorities was very noticeable in the video...

  • We think the seal is a great tradition. While we can't condone dumping people in trash cans, it's good to hear that your school has strong school spirit. We'll make sure that as many SMU student groups as possible are represented in future videos.

  • Great! No robberies and better academics.

  • @karthikasudhir Notice how they didn't address the minorities, racism.

  • Hmmmm... can Blacks, Asians, Indians, Hispanics, the Disabled, or anyone that doesn't look like they just stepped out of the Dallas Junior League of 1958 partake in said traditions?

  • Seriously, where is the diversity? The only African American's at SMU are all involved in athletics.

  • I am a Black female about to atend SMU in a couple of week and Im NOT there on a sports scholarship BUT on academic...many Black people at SMU are SMART ....do you know how hard it is to get into that school like seriously. Im from Dallas Texas and have known this all of my life. So unless you live there or have ever been like seriously rethink the things you say....you may end up looking like a BUTTHOLE.

  • no i attend smu dedman school of law and im OBVIOUSLY not on a academic scholarship. So your wrong

  • Outside the Mustang Band (of which I was a part) and Peruna, these "traditions" were non-existent in the 1960s. This production looks like a project of some media students with oo much time and too vivid imaginations.

I was just back for Homecoming and did observe two longstanding traditions: Greek elitism and student apathy. Some things never change!

  • The Mustang Band and Peruna are two of SMU's longest traditions. We're also enjoying some of our newer traditions, like Boulevarding as well. We hope you'll continue to be a part of both SMU's classic and newer traditions.

  • One doesn't create traditions. Traditions grow on their own.

  • You shouldn't HAVE to be told or reminded.

  • What the hell? Where are the other ethnic groups in this video, in particular African American???? Last time I checked they attended the school too!

Dam shame. Remake the video. You left out some Tradition.

  • We did leave out some traditions, unfortunately with the time constraints we can't include everything. We won't be able to remake the video but thanks for your comments.
