I'm not saying the bloke on the video is dead, I'm saying that a car might hit you with lethal results and that you should always be careful. An insurance claim is nothing compared to not being able to use your legs for the rest of your life, here in the Netherlands it's barely even enough to cover the medical costs, and I'm not even mentioning the rope pulling about who's to blame(even though its evident) and how much money you are going to receive.

but in the Uk if you are injured you have to go to great detail explaining your injury to hospital staff. I only said to claim insurance is so that he would be able to get hospital staff to look after him. Finally if you are injured in an acident such as this the police and ambulance staff would be involved thus you need to know what caused the accident and how/ if it could have been avoided

While I agree that the person in the car was at fault, it doesn't mean that a rider can't be on the look out and avoid it.

Substitute the car door opening with a child running from between parked cars. Or even a child opening a car door.

That's the point that's being made.
