  • am tryin to get a tr 808! where can i get one? how much am i lookin at! there like golddust! greatvid!!!!

  • haters!!!!!

  • these things only go up in value!!! software EMULATIONS don't do any justice!!

and you can control modular systems with an 808!!!!

  • gear lust!!!!!!!!

  • sounds like the ultrabeat sound pack on logic9

  • @MyDanish21 I've got enough money to buy one (heck, I could buy all the different drum machines Roland has ever produced) but unlike you I don't care for status.

  • @Ni5ei shut up!!!

  • I've had an 808 and a 909 and really think people are nuts for paying so much for these things nowadays. Really, they're over rated.

  • @Ni5ei You're just poor. They are the whip.

  • the vintage legend

  • I'll trade an 808 for a stradivaris any day lmao. The 808 is pretty cool none the less.

  • for what reasons would someone spend so much money to purchase one as opposed to just using a software drum machine?

    - Im being honest here, not sarcastic, I really want to know what advantages buying a real vintage one has...

  • @bushofghosts1 Status. ;)

  • @bushofghosts1 Analog technology, no two hits are the same, frequency wise. Plus the output from it sounds less digital and exact than software versions.

  • Comment removed

  • The greatest musical instrument ever invented. Stradivari can go fuck himself. Peace.

  • 909

  • wow, just came across by accident!, for some reason decided to play it, the Bass is amazing, at last some decent sounding Bass coming out my speakers, only had the volume on low and everything on my desk was rattling!. Yeh I miss that sound, reminds me of back in the dayz, when I was young. How much? what else do I need?, do I just need a decent Amplifier & Speakers, and away I go making some tunes?, advice/reply would be nice. Thank you.

  • So. Sick.

  • 200,000 views! Thanks everyone for watching my 808 drum machine video. I appreciate the comments, even the negative ones! --T

  • The fact that you 're using a TR-808 is amazing!!!!!

  • Nice!

  • nice!

  • its amazing many of these sounds are still use frequently in today's popular music!

  • @MetalMonsterGuitar yes most likely because any DAW you can buy these days have some form of TR-808 emulation or a derivative.

Sure analog purists would say that can't beat the real thing...

  • A beautiful machine.

  • Thanks for teh samples Muahahahahaha

  • yeah very nice demo....brings back all those Miami jamz....pleeeaaazzzzzeeeee soooooommmmbooooooodddy

  • it cant do the WOMPWOMPWOMPWOMPWOMP like bassnectar can

  • thanks god some musicians aren't like you...

  • when did this come out?

  • @hongdekong 1980

  • wow no disrespect to anyone who owns one of these but they are just a complete waste ofmoney

  • @pimpmstr89

Unless you bought one for $100 in the early 90s like I did :)

  • this needs a slow groove 303 line added to it using both a sawtooth wave and square wave sound.

  • Where did you get it. I want one.

  • @SknkH0electro so do I!

  • save the tr 808, beautiful demonstration, can make the voltmix beat by dj battery brain? sorry my english google translator! in Brazil we love that sound!

  • Nice! :)

  • Yo, this beat is spokey doked. (Im bringing that back, not that it ever was...) Means Good.

  • THis Drum Machine is the back bone of modern music today!!

I would love to have one in my heands again..

808! As soon as I get some cash to burn, I will buy one on Ebay or something.. MAYBE I'll call ROLAND and say "RE DO NOW" ..aarrrghgh

Those Japs had no clue this machine was gonna live for ever. Love you Japan!

The more I see these videos the more I crave it.. There was a great emulation of this drum machine online... now its gone.

  • how much was tht?

  • Whoever DisLikes This Has No Taste In Music What So Ever, This Shit Is Amazin

    I Love The 808

  • Im pretty sure Stevie B. started out with one of these.

  • Is there anything better to use then a 808? what about the 909's?

  • 808 ...

  • inspiring. i got work to do on my 808 it seems....

  • the machine that created the culture...long live the 808!

  • Sounds like rockstar 101..

  • which drum sound are you using at about 1:40?

  • @tupacsnotdead The bass line? It's a Juno 6 triggered by the 808's "accent" trigger output.

  • man i saw one of these for like 3000$

  • @Longstuff I think I saw that one! A friend sent me a link to the ebay auction just a few weeks ago. It went for $2500 (buy-it-now was $3000). The seller claimed that specific 808 had been used to make early Shannon hits. It also had a MIDI kit.

  • @ThomasInSF They still sell for a pretty penny. I really want to get my hands on one but just can't justify the price.

  • you can download a torrent called fruity loops studio 9

  • Where do I get one?

  • try this on "mechanical" drumset with using less than 10 hands :-)

  • 808 hell yea

  • Cuz the 808 kick drum makes the girlies get dumb

We're rollin Rainier and the jealous wanna get some

  • @RotorDemon Sir mix alot!!!

  • Planet Rock

  • the greatest drum machine

  • the greatest drum machine ever.

  • i make drum sounds in logic and cant even get through a damn thing with all the choices. its just to much. ill stick to the 808 909 n 707 right to my nagra IV!!!

  • I cant believe how many people dont realize that this is the machine that started it all. What more can you expect in an age full of FL users that think that toy equals to real music production.

  • @ladygodia I like you're attitude, the "Its the gear and not the musician who makes great music"

  • something about the hardware seems more appealing than my DAW but the "reason" of my "logic" overwhelms my desire to "record" with less flexibility ;)

  • @ibcrazysumtimes nice wordplay. I love Logic and use it all the time. I've got Reason but don't use it much.

  • @ThomasInSF what audacity!

  • @ibcrazysumtimes

    Gotta love Logic's virtual 606, 808 and 909!

  • Awesome. The very beginning reminds me of Stevie B's "In My Eyes"

  • cooooooooool

  • how does it works?? im too stupid for this ...i wish i could handle this

  • wow the sound is very powerful on this video

  • i hate the sound

  • Definitely going to have to agree that really drums are the shit and are what should be used by artists who sell millions, but 808 machine are still hella sick just to like mess around on you know have some fun and what not but fuck "real" artists who have to use a machine to make their beats hell go out and find yourself a drummer not hard to find at all

  • I want one of these. They're overly priced though. They cost like 1000 brand new and now they cost more =O

  • who the fuck is kesha?

  • ahhhh! That's so cool! Sounds like an old school rap instrumental!

  • wtf is this shit? what happened to real drums?

  • @masterbob234 -_- go find some real drum videos (it's not like there isn't millions posted on youtube) then lol, there's more than one way to skin a cat, not EVERYTHING has to be done on a drum set. I'm sure he's just having fun showing off his 808 sounds on his Drum Machine.

  • this is the shit man !

  • Two words:

    Fuck Kesha.

  • Do I make your heart beat like an 808 drum? Keisha - Your love if my drug.

  • great oldschool rythim!

    808 state will never die

  • this machine is a dream catcher <3 ^^. Nice demo ;-)

  • Cool! I wanted to know what this was because of the Ke$ha song lyric "Do I make your heart beat like an 808 drum?/Is my love your drug?"

  • cuz the 808 kick drum makes the girl-ies get dum

  • how much this one cost?

  • Your getting all your views because of kesha

  • this sounds alot different than my 808. the cowbell seems shorter and the snare on this is way cool and plasticy mine seems more raw and metallic i remember this was the sound i wanted and when i got the 808 i was like "wtf" this dont sound right!

  • it's so sweet!

  • Hey, thank you everyone for watching my video and getting it over 100,000 views!

  • @ThomasInSF How much does one of these bad boys cost?

  • @huskerdude17 a guy on GearSlutz just picked one up for $1500.

  • @ThomasInSF kinda senseless since you can get exactly the same sounds sampled from an 808 for free in the internet

  • @tullshib I know that sounds like the case but if you ever messed around withan 808 you'd notice that the real thing actually sounds better than samples. With analog equiment there are small variations in the sounds. Each snare or bass hit may sound slightly different than any of the others. Sounds can be shaped & changed in ways that are very hard to capture with samples. There are variations among different machines as well.

Think of the best piano samples compared to a real piano

  • @cxpage actualy an outdated point of view since modern digital synthesis and production tools are 1000% able to recreate those little imperfections that analog gear has. but dont mind, if your into old fashioned things thats absolutely fine :D

    good video btw...

  • @ThomasInSF it should have 1000000000000000000000000000000000 views i love it!

  • @ThomasInSF The sound quality of the video is very good...Most tr808 video's have audio

poor quality. The views are now close to 200,000 ;)

  • love that 808 snare mate.. thanks for posting..

  • Dirty South rhythm machine :D i love it !

  • FOR SALE?????

  • as simple as you made it look, FREEESH!!!

  • this beat sukscs

  • Nice beat...

  • Im trying to find out where to buy one of the R808's.

Any advice where I should look?

I really want one of these

  • 2000$ on ebay.

  • @hendrixxr4r there are plenty of better drum machines out there now. I would consider getting Maschine or an MPC

  • this is so sweet.

  • The only thing I found that comes close to the sound of the original (sample wise) is the sound card for Roland's R-8M (another fine machine). Had an 808 but the limitations of sequencing... well, cute, noisy, but limited.

  • 808 bassaparat, reckless hat den beat am start!

  • I want to take it to bed and lick it! lol!!! Awesome beast!

  • you sampled from this video? the fruity loops demo has all the fake 808 you need for free...

  • ReBirth by Propellerhead Software is now free... That's the closest thing to the real box... ;)

  • thanx for the 808 sample people want a lot of money 4 this thing so i just sampled yours thanx

  • FAT BEAT

  • *phat

  • Are there any drum machines that will mimick the 'bass drops' of an 808? I'm looking to add one to my kit...but an 808 is a bit out of my price range...especially using it for just this one function mainly.

  • Try an Electribe SX, she's got some mean high quality samples and good mod abilities too.

  • yo some heads are just madd stupid. this shit rocks

  • U Wanna Kno' What Else Sucks?

  • damn sooo lucky.. my search for an 808 continues........:(

  • 808 clap/snare.... I believe It will live on eternally

  • sick

  • That's wiiiiicked.

  • fresh

  • dont ever compare FL studio to a drum machine

  • yes your excellency.

    excuse me

  • @KebapMaster I know right...FL Studio is pretty lame..an 808 is what Wayne uses to mix his beats..

  • @BleepYouTwo

yeah, cus wayne isnt lame either *sarcasm* waynes overrated

and fl studios is what basshunter uses to make his songs.

  • @letters129 Bahahahahahaha!!!!!! Basshunter does no such thing!! Basshunter tracks most of their beats by actual drum triggers! and use Logic Studio to mix and master!! Plus, bass hunter is faggy as shit, you wanna listen to good beat tracks, check Bass Nectar!!

  • @BleepYouTwo bassnectar is dumb dude, listen to some actual techno like noisecontrollers

  • @94dhk I'll check em out. But most techno music is dumb anyway. I only listen to it cause it makes my subs sound good ;)

  • @KebapMaster Um, Hi. I'd much rather use FL Studio. Don't ever think your opinion is greater than another's. It's not cool.

  • @RogueKovu This has nothing to do with opinion. You're just flat out plain jane ol' WRONG.

  • @DaiReborn Oh true, I forgot about that.

  • @RogueKovu You took that really well..... You're all right!

  • @DaiReborn LOL! Thanks :)

  • @KebapMaster

actually its build up the same way

  • @tellerwaescher88 Unless you want to get owned by people who know what they're talking about, I'd leave it there

  • As if the 808s weren't great enough Roland made the 909 and 303... Long live the grove boxes!

  • why does this make me think of opened cardboard boxes adidas jumpsuit & shelltoeshoes boomboxes gold rope chains and grafiti

  • cuz dude, tha 808 was the biggest rhythym machine in history

  • what will REALLY make you think of that is an oberheim dmx, used by the likes of grandmaster flash, herbie hancock, run dmc, and afrika bambaataa. needless to say it kicks ass

  • Nothing sound quite like and eight-oh-eight!

  • Old School!

    I Love the 808!

    Old Bass Style Biatch xP

  • very cool

  • lol reminds me of pretty hate machine

  • nice

  • type youngstar808

  • this is 10X better when your blazed

  • i agree

  • i'll have to try this
