@MyDanish21 I've got enough money to buy one (heck, I could buy all the different drum machines Roland has ever produced) but unlike you I don't care for status.
@bushofghosts1 Analog technology, no two hits are the same, frequency wise. Plus the output from it sounds less digital and exact than software versions.
wow, just came across by accident!, for some reason decided to play it, the Bass is amazing, at last some decent sounding Bass coming out my speakers, only had the volume on low and everything on my desk was rattling!. Yeh I miss that sound, reminds me of back in the dayz, when I was young. How much? what else do I need?, do I just need a decent Amplifier & Speakers, and away I go making some tunes?, advice/reply would be nice. Thank you.
Hellz ya TR-808 love gotta rep this beast yo. GOtta love the bass and the retro epic sound kits eh! I mean listen to that bass it is pounding out great low notes!
save the tr 808, beautiful demonstration, can make the voltmix beat by dj battery brain? sorry my english google translator! in Brazil we love that sound!
@Longstuff I think I saw that one! A friend sent me a link to the ebay auction just a few weeks ago. It went for $2500 (buy-it-now was $3000). The seller claimed that specific 808 had been used to make early Shannon hits. It also had a MIDI kit.
i make drum sounds in logic and cant even get through a damn thing with all the choices. its just to much. ill stick to the 808 909 n 707 right to my nagra IV!!!
I cant believe how many people dont realize that this is the machine that started it all. What more can you expect in an age full of FL users that think that toy equals to real music production.
something about the hardware seems more appealing than my DAW but the "reason" of my "logic" overwhelms my desire to "record" with less flexibility ;)
Definitely going to have to agree that really drums are the shit and are what should be used by artists who sell millions, but 808 machine are still hella sick just to like mess around on you know have some fun and what not but fuck "real" artists who have to use a machine to make their beats hell go out and find yourself a drummer not hard to find at all
@masterbob234 -_- go find some real drum videos (it's not like there isn't millions posted on youtube) then lol, there's more than one way to skin a cat, not EVERYTHING has to be done on a drum set. I'm sure he's just having fun showing off his 808 sounds on his Drum Machine.
this sounds alot different than my 808. the cowbell seems shorter and the snare on this is way cool and plasticy mine seems more raw and metallic i remember this was the sound i wanted and when i got the 808 i was like "wtf" this dont sound right!
@tullshib I know that sounds like the case but if you ever messed around withan 808 you'd notice that the real thing actually sounds better than samples. The only thing I found that comes close to the sound of the original (sample wise) is the sound card for Roland's R-8M (another fine machine). Had an 808 but the limitations of sequencing... well, cute, noisy, but limited.
Are there any drum machines that will mimick the 'bass drops' of an 808? I'm looking to add one to my kit...but an 808 is a bit out of my price range...especially using it for just this one function mainly.
