I was asking people around me, who is this.they said Deftones.The song that grabbed my attention was BORED.That was the beginning of me from switching to listening to Rap to dropping that.listening to Rock.At that time Rap went downhill and was the beginning of new metal. with Korn and Bizkit.and everyoine else.I got into rock music at perfect time

Haha. I went to this Warped Tour.(in NY of '08) Can't remember who played first, Deftones, or Snapcase, but they payed one after the other.. best fucking Tour I was ever on... the crowd was nuts. This may have been ten years ago, but the Deftones are still as great a band now as they were back then. Ever since the music industry has been shot to hell, the tones' are one of the few bands left that remind us of the golden years.

Sure, Chino may have put on a little weight, but the point is, he's still around and making great music. You can't compare the Deftones to any other band, you just can't, their individuality is what made them great.

Nu-metal isn't really that bad either, there's just not that many bands that fill the genre, and out of the few that do, most of them aren't all that good. You are right though, they had a ton more melody. Deftones is one of the most melodic bands out there.
