but the Wi-Fi for the iPod Touch mainly to be used for places that offer Wi-Fi. My local Sips has Wi-Fi but they only have 1 computer, so if you were at sips and didn't feel like lugging around a bulky laptop, just pull out your iPod Touch and get online.

Ok since my piece of shit ass don't have an ipod touch can you tell me if my house would be a "hot spot" because i have a modem for high speed on one computer in my house and another computer on the other side of my house has like a usb adapter that gets wireless internet from the modem, so would i get good wifi?

I always found a another trick you can do for more protection. You do need to leave SSID visible, BUT you can use MAC Filtering once you find out from your router the Ipod's MAC address which is shown in your routers DHCP leasing list. Once you have it just enter that into the MAC FIltering and then turn it on and you should be good to go!

I need to go bed at earlier times...sorry guys. I mean to say WPA-PSK Security Encryption not WAP! Ugh...anyways I meant to say WPA. WPA2 is the newest security type and WPA-PSK was right before it. WPA stands for Wireless Protected Access. Apologies!

My wife finally got the 16gb Ipod Touch and I have set it up with WAP-PSK Security and it works PERFECT. The other good news is that it WILL remember the password and does not need entered each time you connect to the WAP Encrypted Network.

Again to make clean WEP is OLD security for Wireless networks and WAP2 is the newest. My router supports the one right before it which is WAP-PSK and it still very strong compared to WEP which can be cracker VERY easily now a days.

dude this depends on safari, I don't think safari supports wap, and why would you need wap if you have a full web browser like safari?

It has nothing to do with the browser. It has to do with your INTERNET CONNECTION being SECURE because it IS wireless and CAN be intercepted. Wep is VERY old and can be crack VERY fast. Wap stands for Wireless Application Protocol and is much more secure than wep. Now they have WAP2 out even. So it doesn't matter what software you run you want your CONNECTION secure so it is PRIVATE and no one can jump on your signal as well.
