i prefer the geishas of the movie, I've seen real geisha dances and they walking and its too much calm and theres no animation in their moviments :S

The makeup and hair is exagerated, too much white and the hair is weird - not beautiful nor to americans nor to europeans I guess.

So Hatsumomo and the others in the actual movie looks alot better to me. :p

That's the point: The movie does not show people what is geisha. A geisha does not drag her expensive kimono behind, or smoke while she is getting dressed. She never wears her hair down in public, or wears the up-dos shown in the movie. She would also never do yoga on stage, or talk back to another geisha while she is just a maiko. I expected the director to actually READ the book he was basing the movie on, but this man has no idea about Japanese culture.
