  • Dang I never knew about this... Cool.

  • Watch the movie Doomsday 2012 and go ahead. Don't forget Haiti earthquake, Moreover Chile's earthquake was horrible - but it could have been so much worse!!!! Go ahead...but how that makes sense, I think we are destroying our planet. Isn't???? thanks.

  • i loled @ "why should we care?"

  • wow;).

  • " you can see that in this 'animation'...." of what we 'think' is beyond our solar system that is millions upon millions of miles in length.

  • are they really true???

  • it's not a solar wind that pushes out the galactic electromagnetic radiation. its electromagnetic field of the sun that prevents those rays from coming in. Exactly in the same way the earth electromagnetic field prevents solar radiation from reaching the earth's surface.

common people! make some high quality documentaries. disinformation is a very very bad thing.

    tho NASA rules

  • This is truly some of NASA"s best work. Along with voyager 1 and voyager 2. I wish they would contact me about this mission. I have some theories I would like to test with this mission.

    Seriously.

  • google plasma universe

    or electric universe

  • That makes sense, thanks

  • Why can't we see the bow wave, something liek the arora borealis?

  • From what I understand, this "shock wave" occurs in very thin vacuum with thinly spaced high temperature ions that rarely interact. In my imagination I envision two desk fans on low blowing at each other. The molecules are definitely interacting - you can detect them if you put your hand in the middle. But they aren't energetic enough to emit light, IBEX will detect this subtle interaction. Alternatively, point two rocket engines at each other and you'll have a light show. That's our Aurora B.

  • yeah. not enough ion\electron density to see it.

    yet it's there

  • So theres a 'shield' caused by photons from our sun bouncing off cosmic rays?

wonder if it could act like a lense and alter the way the universe actually looks to us. Are our telescopes looking at bent light as its passing around the solar system?

  • They found a genious way to explain that, with that example.

Apart from that I always ask myself: Why do we make wars, why do we compete so much on earth instead of trying to reach out to this whole universe that's waiting too be discovered by us. Theres so much waiting for us...

  • I've tried explain this to my friends...they don't even care about shuttle launches...

  • NASA = Geniuses.

  • The Ibex probe will chart particle interactions at the edge of deep space

Nasa's Interstellar Boundary Explorer (Ibex) spacecraft has been launched into Earth orbit to study the edge of our Solar System.

Ibex was launched on Sunday aboard a Pegasus rocket that was dropped from a jet flying over the Pacific Ocean.

It is the first probe to study particle interactions at the boundary where our Solar System meets interstellar space.

  • Did Nasa launch Ibex probe today.

  • Read on telegraphDOTcoDOTuk. Dr. Mccomas who is in this video is quoted in the article.

    QUOTE

New data has revealed that the heliosphere, the protective shield of energy that surrounds our solar system, has weakened by 25per cent over the past decade and is now at it lowest level since the space race began 50 years ago.

    UNQUOTE

  • A small prediction.

IBEX will discover a large, new planetary mass also known as Planet X.

This planet is noted to be inbound towards the inner solar system.

  • The universe is like water!

  • He's hot.

  • lol what kind of gross water are they using?

  • It's actually milk with blue food coloring, not water.

  • Yay for fabbo educational animations!

  • Excellent video, it all made good sense. The analogy with the colored water really crystalized this concept. Good job, guys.

  • In the animation you've got a sphere, with a magnetotail. What i want to know is what do you define as the solar boundry? The sphere at 1:36 or the sphere+the tail.

  • The real boundary of the heliosphere is the sphere plus the tail. Inside that is solar wind, outside is interstellar space. Inside the sphere (the termination shock) the solar wind is supersonic.

  • With a name like that i can't take him seriously

  • lol

  • Agreed.

  • Interesting stuff.
