Ups, that crescendo from 0:56 was not placed well...
On the other side: What I like about Bryn Terfel is his naturalness. He does not seem to care too much but just opens his mouth and - sings. He gains a lot of admiration for his uncomplicated way of performing, I think. Well, that's also a way.

I've seen him with Wagner's 'Der Ring Des Nibelungen. Here I recognize him again as a fullworthy opera singer. Opera singers are also actors. And he does both singing and acting very well. It's as if he speaks with his eyes..
I suggest you have your hearing tested. There is something seriously wrong in the transmission/processing of of the sound between your tympanum and your Wernicke's area.
I have heard Ruggiero sing this, saw it on a videoed performance some years back - brilliant, absolutely. I also saw Darius Campbell mime this on Popstar to Operastar last night - those contestants are MIMING - his larynx never moved!
Bryn Terfel sings the best Don Giovanni ever! he's the only one with the power & charisma to effectively deliver the piece effectively. Don't forget this piece is not in it's entirity!
I always enjoy seeing the different portrayals of Don Giovanni and reading the kind of singers people like for the part. I like Bryn but I don't like his Don Giovanni...at all really.. :p

Did you forget the 't in that statement?
He is consistently out of breath and sings the high notes with a blatant and manic openness that makes me cringe and reach for a throat lozenge.
That being said, it is par for course for his singing. It has gotten worse and worse recently, but the technique was clearly inadequate from the get-go for truly versed singers/speech pathologists.
Ad hominem works here to an extent, but it misses the mark. I am just now turned 30, and never said I sing it better - I can't (Porter yes). I also had just changed up my approach as said in the description.
Check out the video of Ezio Pinza singing this from the film Carnegie Hall. Listen to recordings of Siepi. Those are actually basses and they handle it better.
Bryn has a phenomenal voice and magnetism, no doubt. I have heard him live, but technique is not his strong suit.

Sam Ramey performs this brilliantly too.

A well-sung spirited rendition, to be sure.

Estoy de acuerdo con Operagirl81. Aquí Terfel no hace, ni mucho menos, la mejor interpretación de Don Giovanni.

I saw him in 'Tosca' as Scarpia. He's far too nice for that part!
However, he does have an absolutely beautiful singing voice and such charisma.
