I don't think it would be cruel to date someone else so long as you still do what you can to make the former partner comfortable until death. With the Christian wedding vows, I can see how he is being a hypocrite, but I just think this is reasonable sounding and clashes with the absolute bat shit craziness of all the other quotes.
