  • i had the same problem ..i buy i set of filters in amazon and the problem is gone..i love the rich of the colors in this camera the pictures are awesome..

  • Anygood for star trails / timelapse?

  • @lezbriddon longest length shutter can be held open for is 15seconds, at least that's all i've found on mine.

  • those lines come in every camera, thats not a problem with your camera. it happens with all brands any camera

  • @cat325ccr nope, only cameras with a CCD

CMOS sensors don't get vertical lines

  • is a good cam! i know it! buy a star-filter 4 this problem!

  • love this camera but I have seen those vertical lines at night usually across a light. Has anyone provided any solution yet? see my videos with those lines, can be annoying though

  • @poliveros55 you can buy a step up ring and use haze filters or uv filters were you using the hood? You should have

  • can you regulate the ISO while filming?

  • Did you try polarisation filter, maybe this solves the problem

  • 20 euros in Barcelona last week!

  • Nice price--can you mail me some? lol

Cheapest price I could find in DK was 200 dkk (27 euros), of course, we have 25% VAT because of the Queen's lavish lifestlyle ;-)

  • Try buying Eneloop batteries from Sanyo. They work just great, last for so much longer and don't die in months, even if you leave them in the camera. That's what they say, anyway. I'm still trying them...

  • Thanks for the tip--I hadn't heard about those. Expensive in Denmark, but I see they're only $20 for 8 at Amazon in the US.

Still, the camera shouldn't be draining power when it's turned off.

  • Eneloops do solve the problem--just took some out to check that have been sitting in the SX 20 for several days and they still had 1.3 volts--nice.

  • Looking good! Just five years ago, people wouldn't even dream about one device like this.

  • Yep, in the 80's I would have had to carry a camera body, a bag of lenses, a video camera and portable vcr deck to do this--without a fraction of the features.

It even has a digital teleconverter--really amazing.

Also cool is the self-timer replaced by facial recognition--when the additional person is in the frame, the camera snaps the shutter.

  • There must be a way, I hope, 'cause this is going to be my next camera!

  • This is the only problem I've found--otherwise fantastic camera.

I've put a link in the description if you want to checkout some stills.

  • The lines don't appear in the still shots from the same time.

  • Found another problem--the batteries die in the camera overnight, so you have to take them out of the camera.

Canon should have made sure the system was completely shut down when it was turned off.
