Thanks for all the views and comments. The chickens were very interesting and pleasant to have around. (well, except maybe for the constant crowing at odd hours). But, alas, they are all gone. The roosters disappeared first and we had the little hen for awhile. She was a sweet creature and so beautiful.
We did our best to keep her safe and happy without penning her up. She had a nice place to live while it lasted.
I was gonna say if we leave chickens outside here in Georgia where I am they will be gone the next morning. Unfortunately everything likes to eat chicken.
Raccoons, possums, coyotes, owls, hawks, bobcats, and more.
I allow my chickens to roam during the day but have them trained to come home at evening time and roost in a house where I do a head count and lock the door. Then in the morning I open the door and let them all back out. Thats the only way I keep them otherwise they would be all gone.
Yeah, I would have preferred it be some wild creature that got them. However, I know for a fact it was the neighbor's dog who got the hen. He chased her back onto his property and I heard her last pitiful squeak. (The same neighbor that everyone assumes owned them in the first place. I don't lay blame on the dog). I tried to intervene but was too late.
We think they belong to the neighbor behind us. They have a collection of animals. He came after them one night, but either didn't catch them and they hid in the woods, or they re-escaped. Yes, it was raining.
Love the little sounds they make...sounds almost like a kitty meowing. I'm glad they're back (not sure YOU're glad)but they're very entertaining. And look at all the electricity you can save on alarm clocks!
aww, the 3 roosters sitting next to each other are so cute, such good friends :)

These are actually ferrel chickens right?
Or, are they yours? They sure are low key, but then, I guess it was raining during this?
Thanks for sharing.
