While we always knew she was a good vocalist, there isn't enough attention paid to what is going on behind her so it's little boring. thats what made nightwish so special. tuomas is a fantastic composer but tarjas voice took the songs one step above in quality. an operatic singer could really reach her voice and could sing the old songs equally great. a pop singer is not what the band needs.
Her new song is great, full of power and so enchanting.I don't think it can be considered as "pure heavy metal" that's true.^^ but she has found her own personal style, which is to me very gooooood!Long live Tarja!

I'm afraid I'm the only one here but I have to state: Boring. The song as well as the singing are simply uninteresting. To all her eager fans I shall say: Maybe Nightwish is nothing without Tarja, but Tarja is nothing without Nightwish, too.
And there are a lot of better singers in the world!
Give her time... and don't forget, in NIghtWish Tuomas wrote the songs FOR HER... now, new band and all... you can't expect her first solo album to be as great as NightWish' albums... and yes, NightWish will sink into the "commercial pop-rock" bullshit world now, with Anette... Floor Jansen has been classical trained, Floor has a 5.5 octave range, but I don't count her to be an opera singer (another hint: opera singers are capable of projection WITHOUT a microphone). The simple truth singers use operatic techinques, that is all.
Yes, I think most of us know that Tarja isn't really an opera singer, but the truth is also that some of us like to listen to her sing with an operatic style. Even when it's not perfect opera.

Tarja has a 3 octave range, this means that she is a Mezzo Soprano (oh yes) because althrough she may have the projection, she does not have the pitch (big clue: Phantom of the Opera was sung LOWER then originally written).
Anna Netrebko cannot be compared because she is a Soprano, her range is greater, her pitch is higher. Netrebko is what a Soprano is.
She'll probably get some good musicians to back her up in concerts.
Any good musician can play Nightwish's music (I think she'll be doing Nightwish songs at her solo concerts because her album doesn't have enough songs to last a whole concert) the important thing here will be the voice.

She's not as special without Tuomas's song writing behind her. I love what she's done with Nightwish and she is a fantastic singer but this song is just so average. The guitar style reminds me of Evanesence which isn't a good thing in my opinion. On another note i think it's a bit strange that she's stuck to metal (well i think its more on the rock side of things really) when from what i can gather she doesn't even really like it that much.
I´m little bit disappointed of the sound (instruments) of this song. But its far better than the new output of Nightwish with Anette Olzon. ("Amaranth", "Bye bye beautiful" with this creepy voice of Marco)

Yes,I agree,not all the people love Sacramente of Wilderness,Bless the Child,The Siren or other single from Nightwish,Amaranth is pure marketing.I don't know what to say,because the new Nightwish is as Within Temptation or Evaneshit=pure marketing and commercial music!

Well I'm not sure if it was on purpose to make it commercial. But the voice is definitely easier to be listened to. What is most funny for me is, that when the journalists asked Tuomas about comparisons to Evanescence, he would get pissed off. Let's wait and see what will happen now :)

El verso es sumamente aburrido!!!!!!! el coro salva un poco la cancion. Creo que estan mas pendiente a la voz que a la musica, espero que el resto del cd sea mejor que esto.

I love the fact that my post was rated as negative, I didn't actually say anything bad!
In answer;
Tarja has a 3 octave range, this means that she is a Mezzo Soprano (oh yes) because althrough she may have the projection, she does not have the pitch (big clue: Phantom of the Opera was sung LOWER then originally written).
Anna Netrebko cannot be compared because she is a Soprano, her range is greater, her pitch is higher. Netrebko is what a Soprano is.

Not to forget that Netrebko is a classical singer, an opera singer, whereas tarja is classically "trained". As we can hear in this song.

She'll probably get some good musicians to back her up in concerts.
Any good musician can play Nightwish's music (I think she'll be doing Nightwish songs at her solo concerts because her album doesn't have enough songs to last a whole concert) the important thing here will be the voice.

She's not as special without Tuomas's song writing behind her. I love what she's done with Nightwish and she is a fantastic singer but this song is just so average. The guitar style reminds me of Evanesence which isn't a good thing in my opinion. On another note i think it's a bit strange that she's stuck to metal (well i think its more on the rock side of things really) when from what i can gather she doesn't even really like it that much.

I´m little bit disappointed of the sound (instruments) of this song. But its far better than the new output of Nightwish with Anette Olzon. ("Amaranth", "Bye bye beautiful" with this creepy voice of Marco)
