I thought it was cute and the kids probably loved seeing this. These students put alot of time and effort into this performance... I say thanks for making people smile and thinking of others.
For all the negative nancys...the dance was meant to suprise the children and the people on the campus tour ..not the students. So call it what you want but it was a "flash mob" suprise for the children becasue they had no idea what was goin on.
@HattoSora they surprised kids that were brought onto campus from the Children's Miracle Network, so it wasn't exactly geared towards the student population. because of the news crews, people gathered at the SU and that's why there were so many people there before it even started.
@gialivesinafrica I don't harbor any hatred. I was just stating my opinion about this event...sorry you didn't like it. Just seems like the energy used to create this 'flash mob' could of been better utilized...instead of the HOURS of rehearsing this attempt at creating awareness, maybe they could have donated their time to a soup kitchen, or habitat for humanity, etc.
1. To make a couple of CMN kids happy and surprise them with something fun.
2. To create awareness for an event called Dance Marathon where they raise money for Children's Miracle Network. They want more students to participate, and clearly by the number of students that showed up to watch this flash mob that generated interest. The money raised from UNF's Dance Marathon will go DIRECTLY toward 2 hospitals' child units in our area.
@Thexxhellcatxx So, based on what I'm saying here, what we did can be looked at as JUST as powerful as any soup kitchen or Habitat for Humanity. Also, we have a Volunteer Center (that I'm currently the director of), and we see many students participate in our monthly volunteer events. We've often seen Greek Life and clubs have large groups that go out and do service projects in the community, and of course our non-affiliated students join us in projects as well.
Awesome!!

yeah, its definitely not a flash mob if they had a section of the union designated just for it.
still, kudos. probably the most awesome thing done by students alone at unf so far.

@Thexxhellcatxx Actually, this flash mob had two purposes:
1. To make a couple of CMN kids happy and surprise them with something fun.
2. To create awareness for an event called Dance Marathon where they raise money for Children's Miracle Network. They want more students to participate, and clearly by the number of students that showed up to watch this flash mob that generated interest. This comment has received too many negative votes show
wow, if it wasn't for the Miracle Children's Network...I'd have to say, that pretty much sucks, as does UNF.

Its kind of not a flash mob if they announce it to the whole world. Still pretty neat. Sad I missed it.
