Why did they have to resort to violent means of dispersing the protesters? People were drinking in the day during the protest and officers and remained entirely PEACEFUL. Officers themselves said they had no intention of breaking it up. It is the use of riot police later in the day that incited anger rather than calming existing tensions. The police are supposedly there to protect the peace, safety and property... the officers we encountered later in the day did none of these things.

Well this happened in Bishopsgate, just off where the camp was. Police forced peaceful demonstrators to move away from the camp to be free to do whatever they wanted, and avoiding people to see and respond to the camp dismantling. I was shocked to see how the violence came from police and not from protesters, who were just standing there, singing and dancing peacefully without any sort of aggressiveness
