By A downgrader thingy, like progskeet or E3 Flasher. Get Geohot's CFW for free at websites, put it on usb, as a PUP file. Then ur ps3 will successfully be jailbroken on 3.55 Geohot's CFW. Thumbs up so every one from planet earth can see. :)

The quickest, easiest way to do it is to go out and buy a new PS3. It will come on firmware 2.40 or something. You can then jailbreak to 3.41 which most people are on.

If you are on 4.0, you cant do anything about it.

The best way to currently downgrade is to get the E3 flasher. It isn't free but of course it gets the job done. An exploit is currently being put to the test for the new 4.00 fw and if it turns out good you will at least have access to homebrew on it. It isn't really meant for backups yet. The person working on the project says it is ok to update to 4.00 if you haven't already and if not you can downgrade to 3.55 with the E3 flasher of course.
