You lose power through any transmission. Automatic or standard. Just because you may lose a few more going through an automatic vs a standard doesnt make it "better"
Too bad it's an automatic. Manual transmissions (as long as you know how to power shift) are better due to the fact that you lose power in an automatic due to frictional heat in the tranny fluid in a toque converter. However, in this video, you can't tell because that is just still a kick ass car.

What you lose in power, it's made up for in precision, and quicker shifting. Nothing shifts quicker than a race built auto, matched with the correct stall and line lock you can take 4, 5, and 6 speeds down without a problem.
@smallfry0764 I disagree, You can have some pretty good automatic trannys but if you're quick on and off the clutch you can shift just as fast if not faster with a standard as well as the fact that you don't have the same power loss from slippage as you would with an automatic.

Thanks for the comments. It is a 535 ci pontiac engine with KRE heads. 225 shot in the fogger. It has magnaflow mufflers and that is why is sounds so nice and quiet.
read the post around mine!!!! It is a Pontiac engine. There is NO Big Block and Small Block in a Pontiac. All external block deminsions are the same. Valve covers, oil pans, intakes, rods, waterpumps and cams and heads are all interchangeable. I did not say it was a small engine. 535 is a large CID just no such thing as a big block Pontiac.

Yes I'm well aware Brent Raus who needs "alcohol" to project those kind of times, while other V8's are using 118 octane petrol to produce times of 6 seconds flat or even lower. Brent pretty much has a 4 cylinder funny car.

You lose power through any transmission. Automatic or standard. Just because you may lose a few more going through an automatic vs a standard doesnt make it "better"

Too bad it's an automatic. Manual transmissions (as long as you know how to power shift) are better due to the fact that you lose power in an automatic due to frictional heat in the tranny fluid in a toque converter. However, in this video, you can't tell because that is just still a kick ass car.

What you lose in power, it's made up for in precision, and quicker shifting. Nothing shifts quicker than a race built auto, matched with the correct stall and line lock you can take 4, 5, and 6 speeds down without a problem.

@Kawasakiforlife7 I have doing mechanic work for over 40 years, And even in schools that teach automotive mechanics will tell the students, if it runs on a combustionable fuel , and makes power by combustion it is therefore an engine. I guess thats one reason a lot of racing circuits say "Gentlemen Start Your Engines". I know it's no big deal, it's just what us mechanics was taught years and years ago. Old habits die hard right.

Thanks for the comments. It is a 535 ci pontiac engine with KRE heads. 225 shot in the fogger. It has magnaflow mufflers and that is why is sounds so nice and quiet.

read the post around mine!!!! It is a Pontiac engine. There is NO Big Block and Small Block in a Pontiac. All external block deminsions are the same. Valve covers, oil pans, intakes, rods, waterpumps and cams and heads are all interchangeable. I did not say it was a small engine. 535 is a large CID just no such thing as a big block Pontiac.
