I know what you mean. I'm from Southwestern Virginia between Lynchburg and Roanoke and it is very conservative out here. Virginia has been red for years, but I knew Obama would win Virginia because of these things: the Northern VA suburbs, the Tidewater area (where you are from), Democrat gains in the General Assembly, back to back Democrat governors, 2 Democratic Senators, and a strong black population.

I just wonder how many of the dead voted for Obama in Virginia. I know the bums probally got three to four votes each in the Hampton Roads, Richmond, and NOVA.

Jesus did talk a lot about PERSONAL giving, he never said that Caesar should tax and support the poor. Jesus was all about individual giving and caring for the poor.

There is a big difference in between selling all your possessions and giving the proceeds to the widows, and governments taking your house and giving it to someone who happened to fill out a form right.

That's why capitalists give more to charity than socialists because the two sides place responsibility in different places.

I guess it is not socialism to give out corporate welfare, but cutting taxes for the middle class and not allowing the rich to get richer is socialism. There are many things in society that are socialized: medicare, social security, worker's comp, school lunches, medicaid, prescription drug plans for elderly people all of which you and I benefit.
