I just saw Soundgarden on July 2nd... Cornell even said this song was about tripping balls on acid on an Indian Reserve, and has nothing to do with being an American Patriot at all...
If it wasn't for my dad, I would of never known such good music from a young age. I'm really ashamed of my generation, the so called "rock" bands just does not know how to write decent lyrics. Sigh. Whatever. I felt like to rant a little. I love Soundgarden.
@Aliceinchainhead no actually its about the war Cornell thought was gunna happen. With all the nukes notice he says " now im in the fallout". Trust me bro i thought it was about tripping on LSD, then the cold war. But i bought the Superunknown tab book and it said about it.
Sorry but this song isn't really about the holiday forth of july...Its describing Nuclear War as the forth of July the song is about Nuclear War like the feeling of end of the world...Watch the terminator lol!
@Aliceinchainhead hahah in toronto cornell said he wrote the song after dropping acid and wandering into an indian reservation. the indians were blowing off fire works and he thought the world was ending.
its about Fallout wanderer in first Fallout. The last part says everything:
Now I'm in control - means you control Fallout character
Now I'm in the fall out - well DUH!
Once asleep but now I stand - f you think about it you never see main character in any other position than standing - unless you are dead
I still remember your sweet everything - well there were sweets in the vault, athere were almost none outside.
Light a roman candle and hold it in your hand - standing with Flame frower :D

@Aliceinchainhead It's open for interpretation of course, but Soundgarden themselves said these lyrics were about tripping on LSD.
