Democrats and the economist that they use, usually arn't for any decrease in any tax, so their dislike for a gas tax holiday isn't surprising.

Higher taxes mean slower economy. Lower taxes get the economy moving by increasing Americans expendable cash.

This has been proven over and over again, in America , the EU, the UK and Australia.

No,the consumer savings will be far more.

If the trucking industry doesn't get this relief, than they will be forced to hike shiiping cost and all the prices of consumer goods will further rise, esp. food.

And if this gas holiday can add to consumer confidence, it will boost the economy and help prevent an even worse slow down or recession. Gas tax loss would be made up with a better than would have been ecomony, ie. increased income and sales tax revenues.

The gas tax holiday will save people far more than 28 dollars. The holiday gives a 22 cent break to truckers, who at the moment are hurting because of the increase in gas prices. It they don't get this break they will have to pass the increase on to the consumer. The price for everything will go up, especially food.

Also, if this break helps to prevent a full blown Recession then the tax revenues saved will be far more with the break.

Obama needs to rethink his position.

first, it will not stop a recession to save truckers a little bit of money. and the $30 is for most americans, of which truckers are a minority of. even then, maybe they will save what, $100-200? over 3 months that wont keep the cost of anything down. even then, theres a good chance the gas companies will raise prices because they can anyway.

Most economist that a tax holiday will only help to enhance the economy.

And the holiday won't "save truckers a little money" it will save them from hiking prices or quitting the business all together.

Three months during the summer is extremely helpful because the demand for fuel goes up drastically.

Obama has refused to pander on this issue. It'll cost the government hundreds of billions, endanger hundreds of thousands of jobs, increase demand for oil and would still allow the companies to raise prices by the amount the gas tax holiday would save.

Hillary says she would take money from the windfall profits for oil companies, money that would otherwise be spent developing alternative energy. She is trading a real long term solution for a short term one that wouldn't even work.
