thanks for the vid ,i just brought one from a sailboater in ockee,fl for $200 restored to good condition ,it's only missing it's sailig rig ,i plan on running around with it powdered by my two hrp featherweight british seagull outboard..ben
I pulled one of these out of a dumster this summer and patched her up. Rows really well is nice and stable. What paint did you use? I don't want ot spend a million dollars on Interlux
Very nice squall! (It is definitely a Boston Whaler and one of the most loved models) Did you do the paint prep work and what did you do about the spiderweb cracking and crazing in the gelcoat?
I didnt want to deal with putting a new gel coat on, so I sanded out the cracks, and there were some areas where there was actually some boat missing, so I filled it in with microballoons and sanded that, then painted it by hand. There actually werent very many spiderweb cracks on the interior so I just left those. The hinges for the small hatch on the stern seat are the original leather hinges!
it is, I called whaler and gave them the serial number from the badge on the boat and they told me it was made in 1963 and that it was delivered in may of '63 to some yacht club. Its called a whaler squall, its meant to be a sailboat
If you "Anything" about boat's, you should know that a "Boston Whaler" is world known as "The Unsinkable Legend", It's more than just a name, no other boat in the world is built as tough, or as "unsinkable", that's why most rescue boat's are made by "Boston Whaler". Nice job on the resto. look's like a "FUN" little boat, enjoy, look's "GREAT" be safe, wear your PFD !

Was the leather rub rail also a factory item?
slofut 2 years ago
no, the rub rail I made from a piece of fire hose cut in half

You really must not know much about boats. Boston Whaler is one of the most respected names in boating.

Another thing I know is its bad luck to change a name isn't it?
tpvalley 3 years ago
Boston Whaler isnt the name of the boat its the name of the company, and yes it is considered bad luck. But im not changing it, im just not using it
